Write a response in which you discuss the extent to whichyou agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning forthe position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describespecific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would notbe advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position.
I admit the rationality of the assertion that students in colleges anduniversities should spend at least one semester studying abroad. Yet, in mypoint of view, when applying to reality, we should also take other respectssuch as their major, disposition and abilities in to account.
The primary reason why I consider this issue reasonable is that no onecan deny that rich experience can serve one's life and career, especially forthose who major in sociology, which requires abroad view of the world. For students who focuses on anthropology, studying in a foreign country would offer them the oppurnitury to research adifferent social group, culture and even race. For one who works on international relations, studying abroad could also help to better understand the current situationsbetween different countries. All these demonstrate the benefits of abroadstudying.
However, when it comes to some natural science, this advantage can sometimes be impaired. Consider a university with the mostadvanced medical research equiments and the most excellent professors in acountry, which likewise possesses the mostdeveloped medical technology in the world, it's much more useful for medicalstudents in this university to study just there, rather than abroad.
Even for the some sicences in humanities, studying in a foreign country is not so necessary. For example, for a studentwho mainly researches the culture and literatureof his or her own country, it's less meaningless to have a abroad learningexperience. And if the student do have a strong desire to understand othercultures, there's are some alternative resources to employ, such as the libraryand the internet, where almost any information and knowledge can be acquired.
In addition, we should also evaluate the personality and abilities todetermine whether a student is qualified to foreign study. Assume one who israther shy and would not like to communicate frequently with others, obviouslyit's not practical to demand the student to study abroad. Besides, studyingabroad requires one the adaptability to a new environment and the quickreaction to emergency of daily life in a strange country. And we must firstanswer the question that who should afford for the abroad study. If it's thestudent to pay for the expenditure, do we onceestimate the economic affordability of different individual? Those all remainsto be considered and resolved.
In sum, though it could be beneficicalfor students to study abroad in some occasions, but we can't ignor the importanceof facts like the nature of their major, their willingness, affordability andother things. Anyway, a respect for their own choices is what I moreappreciate.
