Recently, I read a lot of students' blogs
on the Internet complaining about how their professors 'ignore' them when I was searching some information about universities.
They state that educating new college students is more important than doing research. Some students apply to a university to further their study in the hope of being guided by a certain professor based on which, they get really disappointed when they seldom talk to or even see the professor. This issue makes me ponder a while. However, I am completely convinced that for university professors, doing research is a job which is much more important than educating students. I will try to demonstrate my reasons in the following paragraphs.
First, students may forget that it is the research that makes a professor famous. Although the basic work for the professor is to educate students, professors always get their prestige through their important research which solves some puzzles or makes a great breakthrough in the field. Once a professor solved a problem, thousands of
ones followed. At this point, it is natural for professors to go on with their research and devote himself to the delicate career. Furthermore, for these scholars, the thing they are demanded for is not fame but time: in other words, they need more time to be engaged in academic study and can’t spare time to instruct their students even if they want to. Therefore it is normal for the professor to focus on the research.
Moreover, studying is a quite private procedure, in which a person collects, organizes and then tries to make a better understanding of what they learnt. Nobody including the best professor actually can help a student acquire the skills and ability to learn . Obviously in the process of learning, what a professor play a role on is
guiding the students by telling them where to find the information, how to thinking systematically and what preparation should be done to accomplish a excellent essay. Thinking thoroughly, it is not hard to tell the whole procedure can be achieved completely on their own. Nowadays, advanced technologies offer us a new way to gather information and enlarge knowledge, whatever problems students are unable to deal with, they can surf on the internet and search for the solutions conveniently. Consequently they can study voluntarily and independently without the assistance of professor unless they have questions that are too complex to acquire answers.
Since students can handle their studying by their own, it is no longer to occupy the time professors spend on the research relevant to the history and future of human beings.
we may see, the people in the world, respect the professor for their great endeavor
in the research, it is righteous and rational for professors to spend most of their time doing research.
Suggestions:
1.
Try to change the structure of your sentences. Attempt to use the passive voice, inverted sentences or “it is ...that...” etc. And make a substitution of “They....” or “the students...”
2.
Replace the words appearing all the time like “educate students” with other ones, e.g. give lectures /seminars/inspire them to think critically and creatively/ offer academic guidance or instructions
3.
Pay attention to the use of conjunction, collect some useful words and phrases to fit your sentences together and avoid using “so” so frequently, it will make your expression blank.
