Does modern technology help students learn more information and learn it more quickly?

Strange as it may look like--modern technology inhibits students from absorbing knowledge at a greater speed  and at a broader range. Nonetheless, experience tells us this is indeed an undeniable fact.

First, modern technology distracts. It allures us much more with abundant contents, making the concentration on study much more difficult. Most students,it is often noted, spends hours on the Internet intended to search information yet has hardly done nothing. A closer look reveals that these people have killed most of their time watching the latest videos on YouTube or group-chatting with forum members while searching information becomes sideline. the truth is too many focuses always yield low efficiency.

Second, students often find it difficult to grasp useful information in the huge ocean of the Internet. Internet comprises of almost anything that you can imagine and even beyond your imagination. Sometimes we just simply lose directions in this huge ocean. I used to enter in the Google library and was fascinated by the large amount of books it offered. Since some of the e-books are free for download, I couldn't help downloaded almost a hundred books. But actually I haven't ever finished reading one of these books till now, some even not read for a single page.

Third, modern technology always gives us an illusion that acquiring new knowledge is easy--just click the mouse, the content will be presented for you. However, this is not always the case. In fact, the most profounding  ideas can only be understood through deep thoughts and practices rather than simply watching videos or e-books.The Internet just make it easier for us to obtain the materials, but it can not replace the thinking and practice process.

In a nutshell,I believe that modern technology doesn't facilitates students learning more quickly nor more effectively.
