College students should be encouraged to pursue subjects that interest them rather than the courses that seem most likely to lead to jobs
用时:没限时,目测5个小时
It is hard to imagine that a student can focus their energy on such subject which she or he has unpleasant associations with. But when the boring subjects will provide them with more opportunities, which may put them in a favorable position in the future job markets, should they take such so-called “better future” subject? Of course, when it comes to the choice between interesting subject and better-job subject , there are always a host of different opinions held by different individuals in varying fields. Should college students be encouraged to pursue subjects that interest them instead of the courses that seem most likely to lead to jobs? Admittedly, many students may fully convinced that future job is the most important factor should be taken into account when choose the subject. However, the best teacher of people, the interest, will contributes directly to a person’s future success.
Actually, a hot subject such as financial, economic, laws, etc. to some extent, leads to a decent and well-paid job, which most students desired to have, especially for those in poverty who live under heavy family responsibilities. Choose an apropos major, for many impecunious students, is the shortest path to change their lives and improve their families. On the contrary, a student of an out-of-the-way field like dinosaur will find it almost impossible to find a good job after graduate. Therefore, future job opportunity is demanded and cannot be obviated when select projects.
However, destiny willed it so. Just as the stock markets, no one can predict precisely what will happen after 4 years when students graduate. Would the former hot subject still remain thrive? Can all the students from such field possess a nice work or not? Are there any big events happen, such as 2008’s financial tsunami, which made the economic and financial students hard to find a job in the Wall Street? In light of all these uncertainties above, even the most experienced educational institutes cannot firmly convinced you that which project will surely lead to job after you graduate.
Consequently, it is advisable for college students to pursue subject that interest them rather than speculate which subject will lead to a better future job opportunity. In addition, it is indisputable that a person’s interest on some subject can contribute directly to increase the time and effort she or he paid to such subject, so that they are more access to be extraordinary in their fields. As an old saying goes: All roads lead to Rome. The real opportunity for success lies within the person and not in the field, every subject produces its own master. It is easy for student who is excellent enough to find a good job even the graduate come from the most unpopular major.
Furthermore, it is totally erroneous to equate subjects that interest student with the courses that seem unlikely to lead to jobs. Instead, both above in general are consistent. Indeed, many interesting projects also lead to a good future job. For instance, an imaginative person would like to take project of advertising design where is the main arena to demonstrate its talent, the same as the charismatic person to choose management or politics. All the projects mentioned above not only meet students’ interest, but also likely to lead to jobs.
In summary, although there may exist alternative between interesting subject and better-job subject sometimes, in most situation they are coincidence and both satisfied. If contradiction occurs, no matter what subject you pursue, just follow your heart and do your best to be outstanding, the success (a good job) will be just round the corner. |
