165. In any given field, the leading voices come from people who are motivated not by conviction but by the desire to present opinions and ideas that differ from those held by the majority.

I agree with the title statement but with a pinch of salt because the issue seems some absolute to overrate the differentiated role of opinion with others in any given field. However, in my view, I admit many ideas that differ traditional conviction and general opinions can indeed play a leading role in many fields but not always.

Generally speaking, in many fields, the opinions and ideas held by the majority might not be right sometimes. As a saying goes: "The truth is sometimes held by the minority." That is to say, it is improper to consider the leading voice should submit to the conviction held by majority.  In fact, many fields require different voices to challenge the old conviction and constant opinions and therefore acquire new breakthrough in these fields. For instance, in academic field as natural science, many important theories such as the discovery of oxygen and the heliocentric theory, which are opposite to the traditional or original theories and convictions when they were brought forward in the beginning. And these theories were once regarded as abnormal and suffered from many people's scorn. However, with lots of experiments and practice, many distinct voices ultimately established its leading status and direct the right direction for the development of the field. Likewise, in political field, it is not unusual that an accustomed institution is replaced by another different one in respect that the old one is not proper to the management of a country. In addition, in military field, the tactic that can play a crucial role in a war and lead to victory is often those supported by the minority rather than the one accepted by the majority. In a word, the opinions that differ from conviction indeed have important significance and lead the correct direction in many circumstances.

However, not all the ideas that opposed to general ones are right in any fields. That is to say, some distinct opinions might be incorrect and would do harm to the development in a field. Thus, it is necessary to have ability to analyse and judge whether the ideas that against traditional opinions can really lead the proper direction in the relative fields. If not, provided that people still submit to the lead of new different opinions and refuse the old conviction though the former is wrong, they would be misled and detour in this process. Perhaps, the consequence is severe sometimes. As a matter as fact, in present days, some people still doubted the accuracy of law of conservation of energy and none the less research perpetual dynamic machine. However, the opinion is ludicrous and ivory-towered and as a result, it is of course the opinion should be opposed.

To sum up, the opinions that differ from those held by the majority sometimes can indeed become leading voices and play a crucial effect to the development in many fields. But people should not take it for granted that any distinct opinions should be correct in any fields and this point should draw everyone's attention. (505)

只看了第一段,有些晕.觉得写的有些模糊,思路不是很清楚.

看了第二段,发现你对题意的理解有问题.

这句的解释我认为是这样:
并不是来自于那些被坚定的信念所motivate的人,而是来自于这些人,他们有着这样的desire:表达自己的不同于大多数人的见解.

翻译的很差,不过大概是这个意思.后面半句其实就是出风头,使自己与众不同的意思.
你好乡理解成了要有独到见解,不迷信权威什么的.

再好好理解一下题目.

其实网上有很多种解释 我想这种应该也可以吧？

1 在很多领域中，与主流思想不同的观点有时确实可以起到关键作用，对这一领域的发展起了引导作用。如自然科学，政治，军事等领域。
2. 但是并非所有异于主流思想的观点都正确并能够成为领导作用。人们对此还应该加以分析而不能认为所有的不同观点都有正面作用的
这样可以吗？

我觉得你得分论点好像不能很好的支持你的总论点:
如果你同意作者的观点,我觉得就该从极力渴望表达那些和主流思想不同的观点和想法是怎样起领导作用的入手,关键在于主观愿望的作用,而不是在客观上不同意见的重要性和作用.

我写的确实是偏离了主题， 忽略了主观愿望和客观的区别，而这是论证的关键。
另外， 我想chenguang104的例子可能和我的有点类似， 也是没有考虑这个区别。
