答案是（E），但我认为precedents与“later”对应的更好；

答案解析说:"precedent"一词有“榜样”之意，我查了韦氏，的确有。但是它也有"an earlier occurrence of something similar"这种不含“榜样”含义的中性词意，为何陈圣元老师偏取“榜样”这层褒义呢？

第一题，我觉得应该用第二个空的overemphasize确定，通过"merely"应该很容易判断出倾向
最后一题：:
precedent的解释：

褒义的应该指第三个
这里用precedent明显不妥吧，如果是人做为实验对象选precedent还差不多

答案是（E），但我认为precedents与“later”对应的更好；——我觉得楼上说的很对，surrogate就很符合。

我再来回复下，第一空填一个偏中性的词，关键词 merely&rather than actually establishing a precedent，第二空填一个贬义词，关键词In falling to see。楼主仔细看下题。
