46. Universities should require every student to take a variety of courses outside the student’ s field of study.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position.
提纲:1.建议好
      2. 多学课程的不好好(多一个好吧?)
      3.多学课程的好
      4.总结

At the threshold of entering universities, the undergraduates-to-be can finally say goodbye to the compulsory courses they had to take in high school. The expectation of taking majors of their own interest is intriguing. But the inevitably significant question follows “How to get the most out of college time?” While it is a conundrum most undergraduates-to-be constantly ponder over, how to provide the most fulfilling education to the students puzzles the provider of undergraduate education more. Whether universities should require every student to take a variety of courses outside the student’s field of study has been a suggestion that stirred up much debating.这句好长,我看懂了,但觉得还是像你改我的一样,it is a controversy suggestion that whether… It may sound unfeasible but is actually very valuable.
&extra=page%3D1 你看一下这个帖子。
On the one hand, it may encounter many technical difficulties to require every student to take various extracurricular courses. Firstly, will be whether the school has the capacity to open great numbers of courses that are beyond the required ones, will there be enough competent professors, will there be enough fund? 这3个排比觉得有点拗口。。。第一点就3个排比就结束了,感觉论证不充分Secondly, college students normally have abundant courses that are essential to their majors, it may be a challenging task to finish extra courses. Most people allot a limited time to college studies, within the circumscribed period, one has to accomplish much to finish the study to get the degree. If more courses are added to the must-do lists, it will be overwhelming to the students and may lead to more postponing of graduation. Thirdly, if coercing the students to study extracurricular courses they don’t find captivating, it may result in counterproductive effects. Assumingly, the goal of the courses serves to impel not to repel.
On the other hand, taking various courses outside the student’s field of study can be very rewarding. In a world where there are many interdisciplinary majors, knowledge of different fields can be reciprocal to each other. For a biology major, additional classes on chemistry are quite favorable, as the chemistry classes can explain certain biological processes, like how the enzyme functions. A literature major may find history and philosophy expedient, the historical context of the protagonist’ s story could give the literature major a more insightful view, and philosophical knowledge may help make the understanding more profound. Also, a broader knowledge can facilitate the student to reflect on different matters from more facets and perspectives. For someone who is studying languages, a probe into the history of the countries where the language is spoken may yield to great finding or how the language evolved from e new perspective. The most spoken language English for instance, if one didn’t learned about the past between France and England, and English was once the language of the masses while French was of the upper class, one couldn’t understand the vocabulary components that came into being at the time. Further more, excessive courses can mean more competitiveness when it comes to the time to hunt a job, one can easily stand out to possess the skills others don’t. No employee will turn down or sack我查了sack是informal的用法http://www.learnersdictionary.com/search/sack an employer who have all-round capabilities. One who excels at the profession but can handle much more is more than satisfactory. Last but not the least, a comprehensive know-how that is from extensive education is salutary for a longer run in one’ s life. The reward of knowledge may not be evident in every day life, but it will come in handy when in need. Being the most strategist in China’ s history, and the most noted character in the novel The Romance of Three Kingdoms, Zhuge Liang might have never needed geographical science as much until the war of the Red Cliff, he used the knowledge of how the wind would form and to what direction it will blow correctly and thus prevailed his enemy.
In conclusion, it may be faced with many troubles你那朋友不是说主动比被动好么,我在书上也看到这个说法 for universities to require every student to take a varieties of courses outside the student’ s field of study, but the outcome is very beneficial. They say trouble is opportunity in work clothes, it’ s worthwhile for the students to study in excess.

The claim that educational institutes should be responsible to dissuade students from pursing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed sounds well-intentioned, but it's not advisable.
Educational institutes are places where students gain foundations(这个很奇怪啊,最好写成learn basic knowledge) and guidance for their academic studies, therefore it's their duty to lead the students in the right direction of research when they are diverted from their initial goal, to provide them with insightful suggestions whenever they are encountered with confusion, or to urge them to give up researches which are detrimental to the well-being of the masses. However, when it comes to fields of studies which seem unlikely to succeed now, while it's responsible for schools to be concerned about the students' future success, I don't think it preferable for the school to dishearten (discourage更好?) students because of the seemingly inauspicious (不吉祥?) field of studies, the approach which is opposite to “responsible".(底下的school最好改成EI,因为EI的范围很广,school只是其中一种,最好就用他给的,写school会感觉很怪)
Firstly, how could the institutes foretell that the field is unlikely to succeed(注意,学生不太可能成功包括了在这一领域里人们不太可能会有成功和学生在这领域不太可能成功两方面,直接写the field is unlikely to succeed很怪,而且成功并不是指这个field会成功,是人在这个field会成功)? By assessing precedent example? (谓语?) Whereas a lot of successes are built upon the bases set by predecessors, as modestly put by neuton? "If I have been able to see further, it was only because I stood on the shoulders of giants.” But there are a lot of other fields in which there are no precursors to refer back to (refer to?). Take the example of amazon.com for example, before amazon.com, there were none of this kind of success to copy, so would it be wise to deter the inventor (founder?) of amazon.com from trying? Absolutely not(word现实不完整。。。). Furthermore it's hard to know for sure that the students' pursuing of the certain field of studies would fail. If the school has doubts about the student's skill and knowledge, well, the student could sharpen(啥意思?) his techniques and accumulate information for something he or she is interested in. If the school thinks the future of the field is bleak, the circumstance might change and the sphere? might be a hot major. So as we are living in the 21st century, witnessing numerous of unthinkable things becoming true. It's particularly unfeasible for schools to stop the students from exploring fields of studies they think will be unsuccessful. (跟开头一样啊,成功是指人,不是指field)
Secondly, if schools manage to prevent students from being engaged in fields they think are unfavorable, those fields will cease to develop and advance. Without the accomplishments of these fields, it may even affect the other related fields and cause more harm(这个不是造成更多伤害,应该是带来更多消极影响?). More importantly, refraining students from chasing the fields they set their mind upon contradicts the objective of school education, which is to explore the unknown and thus contribute to the world.
The right method to adopt will be to encourage the students to take risks, to persist in the academic subjects they have passion for, to inspire them to accomplish their dreams, and to impel them to try. Because if you don't try, you will never know if you will succeed, that’s already failure. 我不知道这样结尾会不会不扣题?有没有人指点下?

lz,我跟你写了一篇一样的,帮忙看看?
