0806作文：Do you agree with the following statement:
All university students should be required to take history courses no matter what field they study in. Do you agree with this statement?

Everytime we recall the past, we can always find something and learn from it. And that's why we learn history. Nowadays, more and more universities realize the importance of history courses, taking them as compulsory courses for all undergraduates. Some people propose that all university students take history courses no matter what field they study in.I totally agree with it because history courses do influence us positively.

First of all, history courses make it possible for us to require abundant information. By taking history courses, we are able to come to understand, for instance, how Napoleon lost his empire and to find out when and where we human beings originated on the basis of current research. It does broaden our horizon and avoid embarrassment when people around you are talking about it. On top of that, many professors of history courses excel in telling history anecdotes that you may never know before, although some of them are not verified by historical research. Such interesting story may make us laugh, releasing our pressure from study and work.

Since history courses present us a platform to have discussion about some historical problems freely, we can make many friends sharing the same interest. In a history class, the professor would like to raises some issues on which every student has a chance to talk about his/her own viewpoints without any limit. Sometimes it even develops into a heated debate. In this process, we share our thoughts with each other, respect diversity and have resonance for others. Therefore, we are able to make some friends who share the same interest with us as well as make our social life more fascinating.

The last but not the least, it is by taking history courses that we can learn from the past to help build up our personality. For example, Franklin Roosevelt contracted polio at the age of 39. He fought the disease with tremendous courage and persistence. From his story, we know that everything will be fine if we keep going and never give up. We also can learn the significance of hard work from Balzac who worked 15 hours a day for a decade and completed a collection of more than 90 novels collectively titled The Human Comedy as a result. Hence, history courses play a irreplaceable role in university education.

If there is anyone who doubts the necessity of requiring all university students to take history courses no matter what field they study in, this essay is your answer.
