留学美国几种学位的区别

对于出国留学赴美读研究生的同学，很重要的一个环节就是专业的确定。可是对于一些确定研究方向的同学，常常会遇到这样的困扰，是读MS in XX还是读取MENG of XX呢？对于读取博士的同学，也会遇到如工程PHD和DEng(Doctor of Engineering)的选择困惑。下面我们就看看英文的解释来了解到底这几者之间有什么区别？希望对你专业的确定能有帮助。

What is the difference between the MS and MENG degree?
MENG (Master of Engineering) - non-thesis option requiring 30 hours of graduate credit
MS (Master of Science) - thesis option requiring 32 hours of graduate credit

Accordingly, the MS degree is more research oriented and MENG is more course oriented.

What is the difference between PhD and DEng?

The PhD requires a total of 96 hours. The degree is obtained by completing 64 hours beyond the MS hours requirement. The PhD also requires a written and oral exam, plus a final exam on the dissertation.

A DEng degree requires a minimum of 96 hours. Candidates are required to take exams, complete an internship and file a record of study.

Accordingly, the PhD degree is research oriented. The DEng degree is a practice-oriented management program.
