关于NTU套磁的回复信，有点搞不懂，求教各位

新人一枚，折腾好久终于能发帖了。。

我想问一下，新加坡南洋理工大学研究型硕士，或者博士的申请，是学校决定的权力大，还是老师的权力大些？比如套磁后老师看中你就比较有戏了？？

因为我套磁收到的回复是：Thank you for your email. Yes, I’m looking for a PhD student for this August 2013 intake and your profile seems to fit my research group. If you do get admitted by NTU, please contact me again in the first week of the semester, or after you land in Singapore, thus we can discuss in more details.
= =感觉他自己没什么决定的权力？？

不懂啊不懂，求解答！！

yes, the Prof can not decide the admission, what he can do for you is to give you a interview and recommend you to Graduate Studies Office, however, some Prof can not even conduct the interview, because some interviews are conducted by the school's leaders such as Programme Director/Deputy Director..

This Prof means you can choose to join his group only after you successfully get admission.

Hey, it seems to be a positive reply. Yes, the Prof can not decide whether you can get admission from NTU. However, he may have a big chance to decide whether he will be assigned to you as your supervisor if you show your strong interest to him. Maybe all PhD or master by research students in your department will only be assigned to supervisors after the NTU semester begins.

BTW: It is a big possibility that "semester" in his reply means NTU semester.

如果你喜欢这个老师的话，现在看来你得过系里这一关了，but  如果这个老师想要你的话，不应该support你的application吗？

  前面的人分析的都蛮有道理的 LZ前面套磁是学术套还是？ 个人感觉这个老师的态度是中性偏一点点positive   告诉你有opening和项目 但是并没说要对你的申请提供帮助（比如推荐你到系里去）

  此外 如前面的人所述 LZ你可能要去了解下NTU的semester制度 因为是三学期制的 现在可能是第二学期末 那他是指trisemester3？  或者你可以通过回邮向他confirm这个具体联系时间 再向他demonstrate下你的价值以及你对他项目的兴趣 让他更support你一点？

我之前套磁偏一点学术吧，就是说对他的某个项目感兴趣，提了一点小看法（个人觉得有点幼稚的看法= =），然后说我的项目经历，比较匹配他的研究啊之类的。。

亲的回复给我很多启发啊！我个人觉得他说的semester是八月开学的那个学期、、所以时间我也没问，之后可以在确定一下。。大谢啊~~！！

是这样啊~~我比较倾向研究型硕士的说，但是都说很难，所以有的专业弄了硕士，有的博士、、、纠结啊

这位亲，你说的phd这种情况是给offer还是给ad啊？是说只要老师推荐了，满足硬性条件就一定能通过研究生院么？
