I checked the posts on the first page, most of them are from original econ section... so maybe its because there are not enough people who are active in the business school section...

Absolutely... 现在看帖子都不怎么方便，看到有求定位的，想进去帮帮忙，进去一看是申请电子商务的。。。伤不起

I think the combination makes some sense to the extent that many students interested in Finance might apply to both. The other programs in B-school might have less overlap but presumably the appkication experience are comparable. I was told to apply to both Econ and B-school finance PhDs back when I was an undergrad.

I think this depends on individual's interests and their ability... most of the applicants who are applying to both Phd in b-schools and Econ Phd programs are those who are really distinct in their backgrounds, just like you. After all, the Moriarty of students have only limited resources, competition in Econ Phd programs is increasing and B-school is even more competitive. So it is better to focus on one area.

It's just my opinion... probably not right...
