It is said that young people now are more likely to help others than young people were in the past. Some people agree with this saying. While others hold a negative attitude towards it. When I was confronted with this question, I would, without any hesitation, support this statement.
Conditions, available in many sources, provide us the chance and capital to help others. Young people who live in such a modern society are enjoying many well-planned resource. For instance, students in high school have more money for their daily expenditure than that in the preceding years. And when someone need help, it's more likely for the young people who have available money to give a hand without influence their own life. I often heard from my mom that she had a hard time when she was young. Also most of her classmates, at that time, were living in a poor community. They even had problem with filling their stomach. Consequently, it is reasonable to say that young people today are more likely to help others.
On the other hand, our education encourages young people to help others who are facing with some difficulties, which is considered to be a virtue. Consciously or unconsciously, young people often give their seat to the olds or little children; some may help disable people to do what they attempt to do. These actions are called on by our society and are defined as good behavior. Unlike the current youth, they were more eager to get better for themselves since they lived in the unfavorable settings where starving was prevailing.
In addition, they are more resources available for young people to help others than in the preceeding years. Take the earthquake as an example, huge numbers of people lost their homes and badly need a hand. Young people can donate their pocket money through the charity activity held by school, or they can transfer their money in the bank, or they can even go to the place themselves as a volunteer which is made possible by the highly developed transportation system. But when it happened 100 years ago, it would be a totally different story. No activities were held. Even the banks were not widespread. Transportation was so slow that it would take a few days to travel a short distance.
With the above summary, it is convincible to say that young people today are more likely to help others.
