"It is necessary for everyone to read poetry, novels, mythology and other types of imaginative literature"

Imaginative literature is a cherishing treasure of human being, and, more important, a mirror of history that shows the living situation and desirability of the people in specific era. It is necessary for everyone in this modern society to get acquainted more or less with this kind of literature in the huge pool of human-being writing.

To a certain extent, imaginative literature is not merely the stories, poetry and mythology organized out of imagination, yet also a documentary of the passed life. Take mythology in  ancient Greece for instance. In the chapter mentioning the Trojan War, well-known to a great degree for the story about beauty Helen and Trojan Horse, the geography and climate condition of Mediterranean sea and the distribution of these kingdoms can be implied between the lines as well as the living standard of soldiers, slaves and aristocrat. Even Trojan Horse itself inspired thousands of strategist in later times in the military tactics. Therefore, imaginative literature handed down from one generation to another should be treated seriously rather than merely the material for chatting after supper or the hypnotic stories told before sleep.

In addition, it is not difficult to conclude that most of people have read imaginative literature when young, although the form of which may vary-revery poems, fancy tales, mystery stories or even science fictions. Imaginative literature, when offering people an opportunity to comprehend what the writer possessed in his mind, wakes the curiosity which lies in the reader himself about the undiscovered world and unexplained phenomena, moreover, cultivates the potential of imagination in each person's consciousness. One famous oceangrapher when interviewed in one program in Discovery Channel has mentioned that the description in Verne's famous science fiction novel, Twenty Thousand Mile of League Under The Sea, influence his childhood and youth period, at last led him to choose oceanography as his profession. On the other hand, nowadays the capability of imagination and creation is more and more popular with the international enterprises, people seek to find an effective way to awake the sleeping imagination in their minds. Based on above, the importance of reading imaginative literature can speak for itself.

Last but not least, reading does not imply fully comprehension. Different people should adjust to their own needs the quantity, the category, the degree to understand, etc., so that everyone can improve himself furthest without simplex, or even arbitrary, choice. The necessity of imaginative literature reading is certain yet relative from this point of view. Teaching staff and supervisors should be aware of this relativity as well as relativity, then, as proper as possible, gives individuals the most suitable advice and guide. Otherwise, the beneficial of reading may turn to burden or banner for individual development.

In conclusion, the beneficial of imaginative literature reading is obvious and everyone can improve himself through the reading. Yet, only does a person utilize the method compatible with his own situation, the advantages of reading can be obtained.
