mass distribution means distributed to many many people.....

我觉得意思就是：尽管19世纪之前杂志就影响大众观点，但是其实是1800‘s这段时间的大众普及的开始和读者数量的暴增，大大增加了杂志的影响力。
就是说以前可不是Mass distribution
