review的时候发现不少问题, 求解释, 先谢谢啦!

Passage1:
Q14: A明显不对. E错, 文里没有说longer finger bone. F错, 不是fit the right hand.
但是对于选项D, 我觉得文中并没有用文字去强调这个事实. The amount of prehistoric art created by right-handed artists indicates that left-handed people were in the minority.
这顶多是读者读完后的推理, 而不是文中用一段或半段所述的内容.

Passage2:
Q5: 我选D了. 正确答案是A: the film was not accompanied by sound before its Berlin screening
我觉得这个选项也不咋对啊, 这次导演和作曲家合作制作配乐, 但是不代表以前就没有配sound啊.
反而我倒觉得D更合理, 导演这么重视配乐(score), 就像D里面说的似的.

Beyond that, the triumph of recorded sound has overshadowed the rich diversity of technological and aesthetic experiments with the visual image that were going forward simultaneously in the 1920s.
这句话感觉意思是"sound"压过了"visual image", 但是翻译里面写反了貌似.
我还很奇怪的是, 这一段中间又说"The high costs of converting to sound and the early limitations of sound technology were among the factors that suppressed innovations or retarded advancement in these other areas. "为啥转化成sound的高开销阻碍了其他这些领域的innovation?

To be sure, their evaluation of the technical flaws in 1920 s sound experiments was not so far off the mark, yet they neglected to take into account important new forces in the motion picture field that, in a sense, would not take no for an answer.
绝非虚言.
他们的字典里面没有"不可能"这个词.
TPO软件里面翻译的太渣了吧. 上面俩是我写的.

The rapid progress in sound technology made possible by the involvement of telecommunications companies transformed the motion picture industry.
最后的transformed ...是修饰companies? 那不应该是tranforming嘛?

刚刚做完tpo12，也来讨论下~
Passage1的Q14的D选项，个人觉得 就是说右手的占多数嘛，然后整篇文章不都是在找各种evidence来支持吗，第一段前三句就是在讲现在的人用右手的居多，那么史前的人类是不是也是这样呢，然后blabla说确实是的。然后什么print和stencils都算是艺术品吧，第一段最后一句也说到了法国的那个洞穴里面的艺术品大多是右手艺术家创作的。
Passage2的Q5 第二段 In Berlin, for the premiere performance outside the Soviet Union of The Battleship Potemkin 注意这里 说E的作品 TBP, outside the S.U （在苏联意外）的首次演出，结合了他的image和那个谁的music 。这样就是说在苏联的演出应该是没有结合sound的。 D的话感觉原文没有出现。不过这题我也是用排除法才选的A的，只能说有点勉强吧
以上纯粹是个人观点，不代表ETS官方意见。。o(∩_∩)o

非常感谢。
Q14的D我权当做进行了一个合理推理吧， 文中大量文字证明右手的多，ETS推理一下得到左撇子少。

我最怕的是每个passage的最后一题， 之前总结的经验是细节不要选， 文中没有用一定量文字描述的东西不要选。

这个ETS的推理被我认为是第二种情况， 没有一定量的文字描述。 因此不敢选。

Passage2的Q5还是觉得有些。。。可能我做错了所以较真吧， 感觉在苏联外的首演加入了music， 不能代表以前就没有sound， 当然这只是我钻牛角尖。 但是不管怎么说哪个选项都不是特别合适。

我后面还有些针对文中句子的问题，也讨论下吧？？

我这个阅读才拿了24.

passage最后一题我觉得还是得自己多做找感觉。。下面是本人都那些句子的拙见哈。。。

Beyond that, the triumph of recorded sound has overshadowed the rich diversity of technological and aesthetic experiments with the visual image that were going forward simultaneously in the 1920s.   这句话其实在讲 录制的声音（配合那些image）是在是太成功了，以至于掩盖了那些其他的和visual image有关的技术 （后面提到了很多技术在研究中但是就是一只没有put into practice）偶没怎么看翻译，所以不知道是咋翻译的。。还有中间提到的那个sound，其实就是说sound with image 这样的一种形式本身的研究就需要不少Money，然后这项技术又不是很成熟，所以可能没有那么多的精力去研究其他的技术吧（其实这些我带了一点猜测。。其实这些不需要很纠结的，当然看懂了更好）

To be sure, their evaluation of the technical flaws in 1920 s sound experiments was not so far off the mark, yet they neglected to take into account important new forces in the motion picture field that, in a sense, would not take no for an answer. 这句话其实直接理解那两句短语吧也不容易，不过联系下上下文逻辑基本也能猜到它在说什么，就是说那些critics 们不看好sound结合image这项技术嘛，然后他们mark（评论）很多，说这blabla反正就是不可行。再来看这句话的not so far off the mark，作者的意思就是说他们不看好这项技术肯定是不对的嘛，但是呢，这之前作者要做个小让步，说这个evaluation 不是那么的偏离(far off)他们之前的mark(评论).  至于最后一句的 take no for an answer 肯定就是想说 new forces是多么的强大，当然喽，就是不会take no for an answer...楼主中文不好，感觉翻译的都很不合适，大意应该就是说不会让这项技术没有一个着落吧，当然如果是直译的话。。。你可以试一试。。。

嗯, 文章一个段里面大致意思应该差不多, 这样读者才能猜着往下读. 段首句再说sound的发展让其他领域的发展黯然失色, 这段的基调就定了. 但是中间一个The high costs of converting to sound and the early limitations of sound technology were among the factors that suppressed innovations or retarded advancement in these other areas. 再说转sound多么多么难. 感觉和该段主题不符. 后一句又说其他领域的发展推迟了, 仿佛又回归主题了. 如果按照你的说法由于sound发展的难导致其他领域的发展延迟, 这到可以解释. 不过...很难看出这意思, 也不确定对不对.

这句话我应该没翻译错, 感觉你的意思跟我也是差不多的. To be sure 是"确实; 诚然", 前面说那些critics不相信能突破那些障碍. 这句话先让步一下:  确实, 他们对1920s声学实验的技术缺陷并没有夸大其词(绝非虚言). 然后yet转折: 然而他们没有把那些电影领域新兴势力的影响考虑在内--某种程度上说, 他们(电影新势力)可是不会接受no(作答案)的(这是直译, 在这里的话更趋近于: 他们的字典里面可没有"不可能"这三个字, 这句中文的意思也就是"不接受失败或拒绝")
far off the mark是idiom/phrase, 意思是:not quite exactly right.
Her answer was a little off the mark.
You were off the mark when you said we would be a little late to the party. It was yesterday, in fact!
take no for an answer也是:
if someone will not take no for an answer, they continue asking for something although their request has already been refused.
I've told her again and again that you're too busy to see her, but she won't take no for an answer.
最后一个你说对了. 我真没注意....囧....
