放弃转专业to stats@uoft, 辛苦找到工作

I don’t have Chinese input method in my laptop…SORRY.

I got a funded admission to Stats Master’s at UofT, but withdraw it today. I ultimately get a job offer, a tenure-tracked AP at a research school, although it is not my dream target. If I have some openings in future, I might post online if I can and need.

At this moment, I announce, my subject-changing fails. TAT. New life as a Faculty member commences.

1st year is startup, it is more like an independent postdog, but since 2nd year, i will have the right to recruit.

招postdog有风险。建议还是招硕士生，这样可以短平快。对申请田牛更有帮助。

in my new school, in tenure review package, supervising a Master's= 0.25 unit workload, while a phd=4 workload. AP is not allowed to recruit postdog

居然量化HQP output，这个和国内大学有一拼。是不是升田牛的文章数目也被量化?如果一个硕士生发表文章比博士生多或质量高怎么算工作量? 我倒是听过有些地方不让AP直接招博士生或一个人带。

当然如果打算在这个学校长期做下去，要按照这家的游戏规则玩。

when u applying for NSERC grants, you have a specific form to evaluate your HQP training performance. You will be evaluated by your past and current students (easy matter), colleagues (medium difficulty) and peers (hard). The reason is, the funds mostly goes to student stipend.

it is a top research school in Canada, so I will definitely stay here if can be tenured, fortunately, despite high working pressure somehow.

能冒昧问下教职的要求么？我听学校的一些老师说现在如果没有20篇左右的论文（工程领域），连面试都拿不到。
