Professors Wei-Chau Xie (http://www.civil.uwaterloo.ca/xie), Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Waterloo, Canada, is recruiting one to two PhD students in the research area of seismic analysis and design with applications in nuclear power industry.
A candidate must already have a Master's degree in civil engineering or engineering mechanics, and have a strong background in structural dynamics, random vibration, modelling and computer programming, and finite element analysis. Research experience in related areas is especially desirable.
Students will be fully funded by research assistantship and are expected to start as soon as possible but no later than January 2015. The projects are supported and are conducted in collaboration with the Canadian nuclear industry.
