Everything and everyone in this world is unique. Everything has its own characteristic. Therefore, some people maintain that we should consider thing in its own way. Also, comparison might be useless or even deleterious. In my opinion, however, although everything is unique and comparison sometimes has ill effect, looking for similarities between things is how we understand our world, as well as communicate with one another. We should not avoid useful comparison.

Similarities among things are useful for our understanding the world because this enables us to develop connections between different things and thus making clear classification and logical inference. Without doing so the world in our minds remains chaotic, and we will not be able to form science since scientific inquiry is essentially a process of finding common laws from different events. For example, in order to study creature, human beings roughly classify all living things in the nature into two categories: animals and plants. By classification, scientists can reveal similarities, differences and mutual relationship among creatures. On the contrary, analyzing everything according to its own character, in other words, considering things as separate has its weakness for two reasons. First, such approach denies the relationship between different things. Secondly, such method offers us no common laws. As we can see, there are innumerable things in the world. Although they have their own characters, behind seemingly difference, there are universal laws that can explain their characters and govern their motion, which require us to find out similarities. Analyzing things in their own way is unable to achieve this goal. Fortunately, Our similarities- seeking nature enables us to better perceive the world around us.

Also, to establish a reciprocal relationship between individuals, groups and nations calls for looking for similarities.As an old proverb goes, birds with the same feathers gathered.People like to communicate with others who share the same character, cultural background, interests, belief and so on. Consider bob and john, whose characters are totally different. One is talkative and the other is so reticent. It is hard to imagine those two people can keep good interpersonal relationship. By the same token, groups and nations also seek after the common aspects. Especially in modern global village, pursuing similarities between nations is conducive to world peace and development. Take America and China for example. In the recent decades, America and China have far less disputes than ever; instead in many fields they develop a series of cooperation. As a consequence, both two countries gain huge interests from cooperation. The results come precisely from their economically common interests regardless of different political regimes and ideology.

Admittedly, too much comparison between different events can be misleading and detrimental sometimes. In zeal to find similarities, sometimes we might neglect the essential clues that indicate the real difference; this will stray us to make wrong conclusions. When we are comparing two things, we are likely to assume that the other variables of the events tend to be the same. One example is Maginot line马奇诺防线.During the 1930’s, France mistakenly assumed that World War II would be like World War I and thus built an elaborate fortification line along its northern border to prevent German invasion. Surprisingly, Germans with their new technology simply swept around the line. This case tells us that pursuing ostensible similarities while ignoring the real difference leads to failure and disaster.


To sum up, no doubt our ability to seek similarities have help us to find truth, but we must be careful in our making comparison because wrong comparison can have disastrous effects. It is best to keep referring to something relevant, instead of evaluating a thing on its own terms. (531words)

I am not sure about the usage of consider sth as at this point, allow me to check or ask someone who may know this.
第一个body感觉论证的有些散，段落中间牵涉的概念较多，冲淡了主体，不过这个没有办法，因为它们是互相联系得，你这样写已经是最好的办法了，否则只有另起论点了。

第三个BODY得例子有这个问题：

France mistakenly assumed that World War II would be like World War I and thus built an elaborate fortification line along its northern border to prevent German invasion.

but why would it be necessary for France to build an elaborate fortification in World War I? you begged the question as it is self-evident.

The last suggestion is to pay enough attention on the time issue that you will have far less time to ponder which example best support the topic of each para, and it is necessary for you to practise with time-limit. :)
