Issue69 "Government should place few, if any, restrictions on scientific research and development"

Referring to the question whether government should put few restrictions on scientific research and development, I strongly disagree with the speaker. Though the freedom of science should be respected, yet the government must put the scientific research under control, and lead it to a healthy and stable way.

First of all, the meaning of scientific development for government is utterly different from the one for scientist: serving the people and the society for the former whereas satisfying his or her own interest for the latter. Nearly all the scientists devote their vigor to the science because of their curiosity. If the result of the physical experiment is clear or the answer of the mathematic problem is certain, no one will waste any time for that. Thus it is the government's duty to instigate or even enforce the scientists to focus on to a certain extent on the research which would benefit the people and the society in the near future, although the research may not be the scientists' favorite. To search an example, we need not go any further than the research on improvement of crop yields, which is heavily recalled for especially when the population problem is tough. Therefore, the reasonable control of the government is indispensable for scientific development.

In addition, the moderate control of the research is helpful to prevent the evil purpose and the great disaster. It is commonly known that science is a weapon of two edges: it can destroy the world although it has brought us tremendous comfort and civilization. The atomic energy is a case in such point. With the fusion reaction producing unimaginable amount of energy, the global energy problem is solved in some way, yet meanwhile the emergence of nuclear weapon becomes a new global issue. As for scientific research of that kind, the government should completely control its progress, and even cancel it if there is any necessity. Without effective political effort, the injuries caused by the science will be much more than the ones cured by it.

Finally, we should not be blind to the fact that the fact that the total quality of resource is limited. Although the meaningful and significant scientific research is to produce more resource for the people's life, it will cost a lot in its procedure in turn, such as lab, money, and even human resource. Given the limited amount of resource, too much for one research indicates the others attain less correspondingly. Thus, it is the government's obligation to allocate the resource as rational as possible. Although some research will become good for people and society after one hundred years, we should pay more attention to the one which is more pragmatic. For example, as for the air-pollution problem, we should focus more on the research on exploring a new kind of energy such as solar rather than inventing whimsical machinery which can turn the exhausted gas into oxygen. Hence, only with the government involved, can the total scientific research's development be balanced and make the maximum reward.

Given those above, government should place all the necessary restriction on scientific research rather than let matters slide. Only with the government's leadership, will the scientific development progress in a balanced way.

文章脉络清晰,不错
就是观点偏激,我个人认为,
举完例子最好能再阐述一下,个人感觉联系不精密。

什么叫做例子之后最好阐述一下,能不能举个例子阿?

Issue69 "Government should place few, if any, restrictions on scientific research and development"

政府应当鼓励甚至强制进行一些有益于社会的科学研究。
First of all, the meaning of scientific development for government is utterly different from the one for scientist: serving the people and the society for the former whereas satisfying his or her own interest for the latter. Nearly all the scientists devote their vigor to the science because of their curiosity(这句话有些太绝对了).

Without effective political effort, the injuries caused by the science will be much more than the ones cured by it.
