Workers would be much happier if they are doing different types of tasks during their workday than doing the same task.
As the world has undergone drastic changes during the last few decades, the life of human being began to change incrementally. With the introduction of technology as well as the expansion of market, more and more people are exposed to severe pressure which lead them on the verge of breakdown both mentally and physically, even though the new era has provide us with thing of excitement and abundance that allow us to manipulate a variety of task simultaneously. Yet the subsequence impacts derided from the so-called “Abundance” had also caused a wide concerns on the issue that whether people are happier doing different types of task or doing the same work. I tend to agree the latter.
To begin with, we must acknowledge the facts that the convenience and efficiency brought by technology has greatly promoted modern productivity. Nowadays, people are capable of dealing a wide range of tasks simultaneously which is conspicuously good news for companies owners. As for the workers, they are experiencing and suffering from fatigue and pressure than ever before. Human labor force is being the condition that is likely to be utilized to generate maximum profits. For example, my friend called Jo used to work for several companies. Every day, he got up early in the morning to attend meetings and conference to discuss their projects and also writing lots of materials for another company. After a couple years, he is suffering from seriously depression and even tried to commit suicide once. Therefore, the laborious works and a variety of tasks could generate tensions and pressure for people that could do harm to their health condition.
Moreover, lots of people holding the view that doing a variety of tasks could broaden their views and knowledge which are very beneficial for their long-term effect. It might be plausible. Yet, as the market is competing more and more fiercely, every industry is trying their very best to specialize to find a suitable position in the market which indicates that the depth and profession level of one’s knowledge is more treasured than the extent of one’s knowledge. Therefore, if one can persist in doing one task, they are more likely to develop a more comprehensive and deeper understanding of their fields. On one hand, they could savor their energy and time to concentrate on one subjects, on the other hand, they could improve and intensify their expertise to meet the demands of current market.
Furthermore, one with professional knowledge in certain fields could also serve as a medium to meet other people related to the same area and establish an extensive social network which in return brings them with more advantages. First, they could have more potential cooperation on certain projects due to their mutual acquisition of knowledge and expertise. Second, they could also improve their working efficiency by sharing techniques of innovation so that they could further their business.
In summary, taking a variety of tasks could stimulate some passions for employers but are also likely to introduce more pressure to modern people that beyond their carrying capacity. However, by working on a single task, people could concentrate better on their job and establish a wide and extensive social network that is beneficial both individually and collectively. Thus, I firmly believe that people could take one task during work day.
