Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
At universities and colleges, sports and social activities are just as important as classes and libraries and should receive equal financial support.
Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

I fully agree with the statement that sports and social activities are as important as classes and libraries and should receive equal financial support at universities and colleges. It is simply very unlikely that the students with poor physical health and mental health can do well in their academic studies. There are three major reasons stated below.
Firstly, sports and social activities build the characteristic of students when they are in the college. And characteristic including physical and mental health is the foundation of everything. For instance, one of my friend works very hard on his study but never has the time to play sports. As a result, he is not strong enough physically to bear the stress of final exam. He usually takes several medical leaves just before the exam and cannot perform well during the exam even he has prepared the questions many times. He also has barriers to make new friends due to he never participate in social activities with others. It is very painful for him to interact with a big group. The university should definitely treat the study and sports and social activities equal important and support these activities financially.
Secondly, it is good practice to support sports and social activities all over the world in the top universities. For example, universities such as Ivy League are very strong in academics. They also pay attention to their students sports and social activities and support these activities with funds. The name Ivy League is actually come from sports competition between these eight universities. So each universities should follow the best practice from the top universities in the world.
Last but not least, the students themselves deserve a balanced life in their college years. They should have support to learn classes and acquire new knowledge. They should also have chances to play around and contribute to the society by working of social projects. The the life in the universities is much more fun. It would be an enjoyable experience for the students themselves.
Based on the three reasons above, I think the sports and social activities are just as important as classes and libraries. And they should receive equal financial support.
