It is the artist, not the critic, who gives society something of lasting value.
现时没写完,改了一篇。帮忙看看结构问题,他们一致认为我构思有问题。汗。。。
Overwhelmingly influenced by the soaring development of the media, some people assert that critics who evaluate works of art such as novels, films, paintings, music and the like give something of lasting value to society. The author, however, argues that it is artists who create these works and therefore make them lasting. As for me, as a matter of fact, I will contend that critics, instead of artists or art, play a considerable role in perpetuating works of art in that only critics can make people understand the art well and improve them into a higher level, both of which are beneficial to endure a kind of art for ever.
To begin with, the critics and their criticism can make the public to make a good understanding of the works of artists so that these outstanding works can be preserved and inherited from generation to generation. As we all know, not each of the works of art can be approachable or acceptable to the populace commonly without sufficient knowledge of some abstract and abstruse arts for example a painting of expressionism. Fortunately, critics who are interested and proficient in these works invariably are willing to offer the public some thoughtful and instructive (指导性的,哪个词比较好?)understanding of the art, which helps people recognize or familiarize the art and then appreciate it with their own personal angel. If had not the critics commented on Mona Lisa of Da. Vinci which is one of the most influential paintings, people would have been undoubtedly bogged down into swamp so that they could gain little. As a result, Mona Lisa was little likely to be praised by hundreds of people at each country and at any period. Moreover, when it comes to the Jazz, a famous classical music, it is the same. At the very beginning, some Whites of the United States criticized such music as an impenetrable kind of art and thus rejected it without any patience. Meanwhile, on the other hand, others commenced to show about Jazz deep concern just aroused from these criticisms so as to be fond of or even infatuated with them. Then, the whole nation was deeply attracted by its strong but flexible, delightful rhythm. Obviously, criticism impelled the popularity and development of Jazz to some extent.
In addition, a constructive criticism could help artists hone their skills and promote their works' level, thus contributing to the development and perpetuation of a motley collection of art. As a famous philosopher once said, "there is no perfect in the art, we have no better choice to ceaselessly hone our skills to improve it." Every piece of outstanding art, from the ancient Greek anthology to the modern Oriental civilization, was virtually more or less modified or adjusted by the creators or producers after adopting some valuable or suggestive criticisms. A good example in this point is that Hollywood's directors invariably invited some noted critics to watch the pre-issued films(电影的预演,有没有比较权威的说法?) at the expense of great rewards. Why do so? An exact reason might be that from another or special angel these critics would offer director some convincing and thoughtful critique that is always beneficial to ameliorate the films, thus adducing an everlasting value and an abundant profits as well. In brief, critics play a considerable role in the development of the art.
Admittedly, without art created by gifted and talent artists, critics would probably lose their jobs, just like fish leaves water; in a sense, art is the precondition of survival of the criticism. Again, as a matter of fact, critics sometimes make some prejudicial and even erroneous conclusions. Some critics, for example, ever tremendously criticized and even proposed to prohibit the emancipation of feminism and sexualism after the World War Two, nonetheless, they had to keep silent or took what they had said with regard to the advancement of the whole human civilization.
In conclusion, due to analyses and reasons mentioned above, I hope that it has been shown that it is critics who contribute to society something of enduring value at least for the two great factors-helping the populace to make a good comprehension on the works of artists and improving their works' level to some extent. Regarding some advantages of the critics themselves, we should finally inculcate our own personal angel to observe the society involving the arts. |
