The following appeared in a memo from the director of student housing at Buckingham College.

"To serve the housing needs of our students, Buckingham College should build a number of new dormitories. Buckingham's enrollment is growing and, based on current trends, will double over the next 50 years, thus making existing dormitory space inadequate. Moreover, the average rent for an apartment in our town has risen in recent years. Consequently, students will find it increasingly difficult to afford off-campus housing. Finally, attractive new dormitories would make prospective students more likely to enroll at Buckingham."

Write a response in which you discuss what specific evidence is needed to evaluate the argument and explain how the evidence would weaken or strengthen the argument.
论点：To serve the housing needs of our students, Buckingham College should build a number of new dormitories.
论据：1. Buckingham's enrollment is growing and, based on current trends, will double over the next 50 years, thus making existing dormitory space inadequate.
        2. The average rent for an apartment in our town has risen in recent years. Consequently, students will find it increasingly difficult to afford off-campus housing.   
       3. Finally, attractive new dormitories would make prospective students more likely to enroll at Buckingham.

In this memo the director argues that BC should build a number of new dormitories in order to serve the housing needs of their students. To substantiate his suggestion, the arguer points out that the growing enrollment based on current trends will making the existing dormitory space inadequate. Moreover, the average rent for an apartment will rising in the following years which will make the students more difficult to afford off-campus housing. The author also claims that attractive new dormitories would make prospective students more likely to enroll at BC. In-depth study of this argument reveals that it is unconvincing in several aspects.

学习经验总结

感觉老师的博客对我最大的影响就是自己的观念变了。我一直以为Issue的论证严谨是指观点要严谨，例如对于某个大的问题，分ABC三种情况讨论，如果ABC不能包括所有类型，比如还有D情况，那么这篇文章是有漏洞的。所以每次列提纲都很小心，怕我的小观点没有把主题所涵盖的内容都包括进去。
看了老师的博客，觉得Issue不是这样的，小观点的覆盖面不一定要广，重点在于分析要深刻。一开始列提纲用了李建林的正反合方法，如老师所说，很多题目会容易出现自相矛盾的情况。看了老师的文章之后，把大部分的提纲改成了分情况讨论，找三个自己觉得熟悉的分论点展开，这样有话可说，也不会矛盾。
看了几篇老师的文章，觉得还是有套路的，文章的结构是类似的，于是改了改形成了自己的模板。Issue的模板和Argument不一样，不是固定的几句话，而是固定的结构。比如我习惯开头先引背景，然后“Some argue that xxx ”，接下来转折说自己的观点：From my perspective, however, xxx。有了模板之后，文章的结构是不需要想的，节省了很多时间。
考试的时候Issue的题是没有准备过的：The well-being of a society will be enhanced when its people question authority. （凭记忆打的，没看题库。）考前没写过这类话题，社会和权威都没有写过，这道题的提纲也没有列过，只好迎着头皮强行分成了三类：军队、教育、科研。当时感觉这种分法不是很好，但也是没有办法的选择。不过，好处就是把”社会“这种不熟悉的话题转成了三种自己熟悉的，这样写起来就很顺手了。

王老师您好，请问这句话怎么翻译呢？justify的意思是证明某物是正当的，所以就更不理解这句话的意思了。
拥有一个独裁者的风险证明了有能力领导者的任期降低的成本？
您原话说：这里指出某种风险justify了某种成本，也是一种经济学的思维方式。
我犹豫不太懂经济学，也不懂如何上网查找这句话的意思，所以想求教您，谢谢。

非常感谢王老师的帖子，8月26日的GRE考试作文拿了4.0，很满足了，之前6月份考的时候只拿了3.0。感觉GRE作文是个强度很大的任务，要在短短30分钟内写出500字甚至更多的文章真的不是一件容易的事，需要日积月累的。不过看了王老师的帖子在短时间内也还是能提高不少，思路会清晰很多，也知道改怎么阐述自己的观点了。感谢感谢

这是一个权衡利弊的问题
缩短有能力的领导者的任期是有成本的，也就是放弃了他们继续任职可能带来的好处
然而这个成本是可以被justify的 主要是考虑到可以减少领袖成为独裁者的风险  
或许这里可以写的更清楚一些

同为程序员，感觉我们思路可能有类似之处可供借鉴~希望一个月内准备GRE可以把作文刷到5分。

没错 ，我平时喜欢精雕细琢，用score it now批得5分，可考场文质量不佳，一站只有3.5
