Humanity has made little real progress over the past century or so. Technological innovations have taken place, but the overall condition of humanity is no better. War, violence, and poverty are still with us. Technology cannot change the condition of humanity.

When one has a look around the world we are living, he/she must be attracted by the better conditions than ever before, which are results of technology revolutions. However, to evaluate the civilization of human beings, there is another significant criterion, humanity, which is easy to be ignored. Technology progress does not come along with an ascent of humanity at all, which means that it is futile in changing the condition of humanity entirely in my opinion.
Admittedly, technology has kept arising up a series of transforms of people's lives. From the first industrial revolution, mankind society was stepping on a development highway. Watt's steamer firstly caused mass transport by ships in west American rivers into reality, following which, trains began to carry people to where they wanted to go freely and conveniently. In 20th century, computer science formed the footstone of communication industry, and now one can talk with whom they like by a cell phone all but everywhere in the world. To be compared with the past days when people used candles, today's life is out of imagination of the ancients. What cannot be denied is that technology is the way by which people are easier to reach a higher living level, and put a possibility before many of them to help others without difficulties.
However, such progresses made by technology cannot represent that of humanity. To only offer ample material and an objective possibility cannot be equal to a reflection of necessary improvement of humanity, which is subjective by contrast. If only people were much more likely to be willing to not only show but act out with the kindness spontaneously, we can draw a conclusion that humanity is improved. But how about the reality? From the aspect of economic, economic globalization has caused an abruptly aggravated polarization of rich and poor. Do the magnates of the transnational corporations care about this case? No. What they have done is only utilizing the cheap labors in the undeveloped countries and depriving the resources by advanced technologies. From the political aspect, conflicts among countries have never stopped. On the contrary, technology progresses do contribute to daily outbursts of wars. Numberless new technologies, such as biochemical weapons and atom bombs, have been used not to save human beings but to kill them instead. What is more, human beings are increasingly eager for instant benefit, neglecting the impact on the offspring and the environment is destroyed seriously by such new technologies. For instance, chemical fertilizers applied do result in the fertile losing of soil. And also, human beings sometimes are becoming more hypocritical with the affluent supplies brought by technologies. Potent countries offer some namely "free" helps to the poor nations, but actually, there are some underground purposes concealed behind such helps, for example, the "dollar diplomacy" advanced by authority of Taiwan to gain supports from the nations in poverty. In brief, there is no inevitable link between the technology progress and that of humanity, and in some cases, the former could make sense even worse.
Accordingly, it should not rely on the technology to improve humanity, which is mainly based on the reflection of people themselves. It was said that people was born with seven sins, which are the nature of them. As being creatures with subjective thoughts, mankind should enhance the sense of identification of those in pains to improve the humanity. Great Jesus is an outstanding exemplar and embodiment of humanity, who is deified by people for his altruism and his determination to be with his people especially in danger. No technology but a daily reflection and deliberation could do help with the humanity improvement by trying to feel others‘ feelings and spur them to handle out their hands to those in need.
In sum, technology is not the elixir for humanity and it cannot change the condition of humanity entirely. With or without technology, people should both notice humanity, a kind of noble nature of human beings, of its existence. Following, efforts should be paid on its improvement, thus, only by doing which, the world could turn into a place more like the heaven, not the Tophet.(691words)
