关于香港岭南大学经济PHD的项目结构和Placement

）里有问，现在收到了官方回信，我分享一下以供后来人吧。


First of all, we do not offer graduate courses for our PhD programme, but students can take courses offered by sister institutions in Hong Kong.



Our graduate programme is very small, so our grad students often take courses from Chinese University, HKU, HKUST, or other sister institutions.  We do run a Master in International Banking and Finance programme and some courses could fit the needs of our grad students.   Students do not have to pay fees to enroll in courses offered by sister universities in HK that are funded by the Government.  They typically take them for credit, but sometimes they might audit the courses.



There are no qualifying exams, but PhD students need to defend their thesis topic and have their candidacy confirmed.  This is generally within a year of enrollment.   Students are expected to finish their PhD in no fewer than 3 years.



We have so far not graduated many PhD in Economics though we have graduated quite a number of MPhil or research master students.  So we really cannot give you a lot of information about placement.  One holder of our PhD degree is currently teaching in our Department as a lecturer.   One part time PhD student is teaching at the Open University.  A number of our MPhil graduates had gone on to do PhD in the US or the UK.
