The MPhil is designed to provide training in economics at the graduate level. It is comparable to the first two years of a PhD programme at the best US universities. The MPhil provides a solid foundation for progressing to the DPhil (doctorate) programme at Oxford or elsewhere. For those who do not wish to progress to a doctorate, the MPhil provides an excellent foundation for a career as a professional economist. Numerous MPhil graduates have gone on to distinguished careers in economics or related fields. This is the course recommended to most students coming to Oxford who have not undertaken any previous postgraduate work in economics.
P.S.
pure academic view, as Micro + IO, TSE > LSE >> oxford?
career point of view, if one plan to and can stay london, LSE >= Oxford, TSE is out of picture. (without considering Ox one being 2 year)
back china / far east, for sure Oxford > LSE >> TSE.
