There is a controversial justification about education that it will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student, which is somewhat popular nowadays. However, as far as I am concerned, I do not agree with this point of view. Only education satisfies the requirements of students as a whole, can it be regarded as[去掉] successful.
Primarily, as a common sense, the method should be determined by the purpose. What is that of education? In my opinion, education is to teach people not only the techniques but also moral norms, by doing[去掉] which,[去掉这个逗号] the kind of useful people needed by the society are [the kind of… are?] cultivated. An education process is equal to a revolution or a modification appearing in a person's mind. Namely, being educated, students should have learned enough skills to make living [make a living谋生] and established their wholesome world outlook and sound habits before they enter the society as mature adults[成熟的成年人?是不是语义重复?]. It is the chief purpose of education.
So since education's goal is [to] put on the cultivation of useful persons for the future society, it is easy to say that it should not focus on meeting the individual needs of each student because of following reasons. From one aspect, the society itself has common standards and requirements on people, for example, to be honest and to be kind. Also, the skills that students should learn to master as eligible social members in the future, enjoy plenty of similarities between themselves required by different positions and vocations. Education should obey the basic law of society so that it should choose a general way to teach students all necessary knowledge. What is more, students, most of which are adolescents, are well likely to be lack of well-round[应该是well-rounded] consideration, so it[指代不太明显] is nothing but irresponsible to satisfy their naive needs. To teach students only what they are interested [in] does not seems[去s] to be but is obviously ridiculous. For instance, under the situation that the ability to read and write is [a] necessity to everybody today, how could education system meet a student's interest to avoid [不太好,用while avoiding如何?] learning the alphabet though he/she really feels [it] boring? Education assumes the responsibility to try its best to cultivate students perfectly.
However, such a point does not stand for an advocacy of petrified education style. Flexibility is necessary and inevitable. As the distinctions are concerned, besides the essential common courses applied to them, students have rights to call for a content towards their own needs individually. Some auxiliary lessons should be offered to meet different interests, for example, [前面这么使用逗号可以吗?] schools should make it possible for those with interest in painting by setting such a class. Also, student's personalities should not be ignored under a united education. Outgoing students and those with excessive shyness should be treated in distinctive ways. A slight blame on the former perhaps means nothing but on the latter might be a deep hurt and leaves a long-lasting adverse impact on their psychology. What is more, the natural conditions surely desire different education methods to reach the same point. Those somewhat below the average of mental power[智力是这么说吗?] may need more patience and directions, compared with those geniuses who are conducted in a less time-consuming way. In brief, under the premise of the satisfaction to the foundational requests of the students, education styles to meet individuals’ proper needs and interests of each student should be taken into account and exerted as best as we can.
In sum, to meet the needs and interests of each student is not the mere condition for education to be effective. What is much more significant in this case is to content the students wholly as required by the reality. Individual needs and interests are important either[为何用这个词], however, to make[用turn如何?] the education’s goal into reality, what we only can do [The only thing we can do,不过这么说有些绝对了] is [to] set them behind.[结尾段有些绕来绕去,中间提到了个人兴趣也重要(不如说不能被忽视,让步一下算了),可到了最后一句好像又把这个(也就是body3)给否了] |
