Scientists and other researchers should focus their research on areas that are likely to benefit the greatest number of people.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position.
句子 | 动作分析 | 内容点评 | 句子点评 | As we know, the resources, such as money, researcher’s time and energy, are always limited. | 交代背景 | | | It goes without denying that everybody wants to make full use of the resources in order to make the greatest contribution to the world. However, the problem is, the interests of majority and the minority people are sometimes at odds, so how to distribute these resources, namely should scientists and other researchers focus more on fields that benefit the majority or the minority, becomes a ticklish problem. Given the scarcity of resources, researchers and scientists have to decide what projects to focus on in their careers. | | Some people may argue that researchers should favor the greatest number of people because it is more effective and the outcome is more significant. | 提示TS1 | 意思不符合题目 | favor the greatest number of people 搭配
| Yet, in my opinion, under no circumstances can we neglect the needs of the minority, for the reason that, only by conducting programs and researches on them can we learn from history and affirm our vow of “every people are created equal.” | learn from history?
不太明白你的意思 | | Some people maintain the idea that the greatest number of the people should gain more favor because once research findings are put into practice, it actually benefits the majority of nation.
上个星期白练了 | | For instance, an eminent British medical scientist, was given a chance to work for the royal family but he refused because what he wanted to do was to find out the disease that killed lots of British people at that time. After months of assiduous investigation, he figured out the reason and produced medicine to cure the deadly disease.
| | Due to his effort, hundreds of thousands of lives were saved and the Great Britain was bouncing again. | | | Nevertheless, I believe that, researchers on small groups of people are also worthwhile in order to truly develop into a better nation. | TS2 | | | Take the research on African American as a case in point. Why do researchers look into their history since the slavery has been abandoned for many years? By reviewing the minority group in the past, we can gain valuable fruits that may be applied to today’s world, to be more specific, through constantly reminder of terrible treatment we did to African Americans, we can avoid race discrimination nowadays. | | | In addition, another reason why I think the minority should be allocated the same research by scientists is that, we are not supposed to deprive their rights of getting better. | TS3 | | | I can think of no better example than ALS, the reason why the activity ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has spread to the whole world is, medicine companies are reluctant to pay for the huge amount of money to develop the cure. That is to say, these companies let the patients with rare diseases die, which is a kind of validation of the Declaration of Independence, they put these people to death because they are the minority so selling them the medicine is not lucrative. | | | Taking all analysis made above, it is safe to arrive at the conclusion that although the if we invest research on areas that benefit the greatest number of people, the result is very significant, we can never undervalue the value of the minority because by conducting research on them, we are able to learn from the past and achieve social justice.
compendium:
As we know, the resources, such as money,, researcher’s time and energy, are always limited. It goes without denying that everybody wants to make full use of the resources in order to make the greatest contribution to the world. However, the problem is, the interests of majority and the minority people are sometimes at odds, so how to distribute these resources, namely should scientists and other researchers focus more on fields that benefit the majority or the minority, becomes a ticklish problem. Some people may argue that researchers should favor the greatest number of people because it is more effective and the outcome is more significant. Yet, in my opinion, under no circumstances can we neglect the needs of the minority, for the reason that, only by conducting programs and researches on them can we learn from history and affirm our vow of “every people are created equal.”
Some people maintain the idea that the greatest number of the people should gain more favor because once research findings are put into practice, it actually benefits the majority of nation.
Nevertheless, I believe that, researchers on small groups of people are also worthwhile in order to truly develop into a better nation.
In addition, another reason why I think the minority should be allocated the same research by scientists is that, we are not supposed to deprive their rights of getting better.
