管理学跨专业申请经济学MA求定位

来自211文科院校商学院工商管理专业，GPA：3.7，GRE：156+170+3.0，托福：105
数学课：微积分，概率论，数理统计，线性代数
经济课：经济学基础，宏微观，博弈论（美国交换时修的，得了满分）
主要是还真的蛮喜欢学经济学的，希望以后能往学术方向发展。

1. I haven't taken intermediate courses. Intro to Micro 88, Intro to Macro 85

Without intermediate micro, macro and econometrics, and without a quantitative background, you are basically out from most solid econ master which are good for academic preparation since either one of that are a basic requirement for advance economics study/research.

suggest you to find a way to get them back first.
or you will have a really very limited list of school that you can apply to.

當有人沒讀過intermediate level economics, 但是又稱很喜歡經濟學想向學術方向發展的時候,
我一直都會很懷疑其本人是否真的知道經濟學的研究是怎麼樣的 (since normally only starting at the intermediate level, it come in a bit mathematics, which starts to look a bit like modern main-stream economics research, 所以如果沒接觸過的, 很難說得上喜歡與否)

所以個人會建議選校時, 一定要選一些overall reputation還不俗的.........這樣到讀完master econ 後醒覺自己根本對econ research沒興趣時(which is very likely to happen), 可以留下退路 / plan B.

P.S. suggest focus application on some US school, and some UK school (except Oxbridge, LSE, UCL for obsvious reason), and maybe also HK and SG.
don't waste time on EU and Canada as they have much stricter requirement on "related" major in bachelor.

Yes， totally understand your concern.  It's also my plan to apply for U.S.
But I know that in McGill in Cannada, it has qualifying year which means to enhance my background before I am enroll in master program. Is it means easier for me to get in?

U have much more choicr in UK if u are willing to do a pre master,  which they call it postgraduate diploma of economics.
Or in LSE those 2yr econ master.
but are u sure u really want to spend that much tike on it?

I don't think it is necessary indeed.......

in micro + in macro + metrics = 3 course only, which is just around 0.3-0.4 year of coursework, or even you do a two semester sequence of each of them, it is not really that much up to 1 year.

(unless you are already year 4 now) some additional elective, or a summer school should had solved this problem already.

I appreciate your recommendation on schools with "good overall reputation", however I don't think s/he know nothing about how economic studies work. The reason is, she mentioned that she got full score in game, and in US. Notice that if the school which she took the course is good, the game course should be quite hard. For example, UMinn-Twin and UWisc-Mad use Osbourne and Rubinstein as their undergrad game text. You know that O&R game's not easy.

rubinstein undergrad game course...yep i'm totally a 350-450 tier student.
