Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? All high-school students should take basic economic courses.
With the development of the world’s economy, economics is becoming a popular major in the university. There are some situations which mean that if you’re major in economics, you must have a good job. However, I disagree every high-school student should take economic courses, although take economic courses do have benefit for students’ future life, it’s unnecessary to force every student to take such classes in high school.
To begin with, students could learn critical thinking from the economic courses which are very helpful to their future life. Learning economic courses can encourage you to use critical thinking. When the time comes that you make an important decision, you can collect all the related information, analyze the data, and use critical thinking to choose the most appropriate one. Otherwise, you may easily think all the things in a mess, then randomly choose one.
Nevertheless, it shouldn’t be a requirement of all high-school student due to not everyone would like to take this course. People should follow the rule that interest is the best teacher. Indeed, economic courses are very benefit for students. Everyone is an individual, s/he has her/his own mind, thinking and choice, and thus, we cannot force everyone to take the same courses. Economic is subject mainly about math
In addition, high-school student always has a burden of study, and they are unlikely to take the extra class. Especially in China, high-school students must take a very tough exam—NCEE(National College Entrance Examination)to go to a university, and a lot of preparations need to do. Thus, high-school students are always exposed to heavy knowledge and assignments. It’s difficult for them to finish all of these homework and have a rest, never mind they could have energy to take the economic courses.
By and large, though economic course would help student to get a wonderful life, it’s not means the school should require all of the student taking it because everyone has different demands and various interests, moreover, it’s hard for high-school to take the extra class during their most tough period.
