It Hurts Right Here

They met on the Internet. She was attracted by his charming personality, and every word he said stroke her heart and melted like chocolate into a sweet dizziness. She wanted, with all her being, to draw his attention. And she did.
  
  “You thrill me.” She said.
  
   That’s how it started. At least that’s what she thought, or rather wished, that they’ve started something. She savored every moment with him, savored the sheer pleasure of typing words into the computer and talking to him heart to heart. Only after a few weeks did she realize that she fell helplessly in love, and was craving for his in return.
  
Fairy tales always have happy endings. However, she could never live in the illusion that she had created. Things began to change somehow. She suddenly woke up to the fact that he no longer cared for her as she thought he did. He became…different. She could no longer feel his passion and his warmth that used to help her withstand the chill of the night. She started to think back.

She remembered the help he offered when she went through that crisis. It was a most miserable experience, but with him by her side, nothing seemed impossible.
  
She remembered how he comforted her when she felt depressed and lonely, how his eyes glimmered in her imagination when he said, “It’s ok. You’ll get better ‘coz I believe in you.”
  
She remembered how she enjoyed it when he called her pet names. They suddenly seemed so wonderful when they came out from his lips.
  
But all the more, she remembered when she told him to be careful of the flu, and to put on more clothes when the weather was severe.

  She remembered that time when she stayed up until midnight, just wanting to be the first one to say “Happy Birthday” to him. Perhaps, at that moment, she was so happy as if it was her own birthday instead.

She remembered how crazy she was when she first asked whether or not he was willing to marry her. It was a surge of unexplainable emotion that she couldn’t control. Answers came, but she had lost her soul.
  
She should have known that he had somebody else. Perhaps in reality, he always took her as a younger sister. But her feelings were real, and now she’s hurt and defeated.

  “It hurts right here…” She typed, pointing to her heart.

  “Where?” He asked.

  Tears trickled down her face. A whirlwind of intangible grief brought her back to reality.

  ”A place you have once intruded and explored. Now, it’s like nothing’s happened, and you can never understand…”

  It hurts. Right here.
