哈哈有道理，不过不可否认城大近几年排名的确在上升，我都担心如果我拣城大，香港本地人对城大既睇法唔系咁好。

1. it is not really too difficult to boost up the ranking by developing (spending the $$) the university according to the ranking methodology, but this seldom imply that the reputation will go up accordingly as this really takes a lot of time.
Moreover, it is quite a question that if such a development is benefic to the students themselves.

2. you don't have to worry about "香港本地人对城大既睇法唔系咁好", just like you don't have to worry about things (viewed not as good as top 3) that are going to happen for sure. You just have to prepare that......if you go CityU.

3. and, I guess you can tell which universities will those big firms visit for graduate recruitment.

I guess I will not go to CityU, considering CUHK enjoys better reputation and more chance of recruitment.

城市大学这些年排名一路上扬并且最终稳定在世界前100的区间是有其内在道理的
10年来我也一直在留意城大的相关动态，蛮喜欢这个学校的
不是每个人都能上北大清华，有厦大华工读那也是很好的
香港人怎么看城大，其实真心不是那么关键。。
论坛上大部份人还是读个书，体验一下香港的魅力，然后回到自己的家乡或者北上广深工作的占主流吧
城大商学院也很好了，我个人比较学校控而已
价值观不同还蛮正常的，以及，都是中国人，不能打中文么。。

1. 我也沒有說城大不好, 而只是和三大有明顯差距而矣.
2. given OP said "个人还是打算尝试在香港找金融相关的工作", "香港人怎么看城大" do matter quite a lot.
3. 中国人就必須非打中文不可這是甚麼道理? 同樣道理, 我可以說"估計閣下也在香港好一段時間, 還寫殘體中文幹嗎?"又如何? 看得明就可以了.......

我其实也觉得城大商学院不错的，不然我也不会先给了留位费。哈哈另外那个人我猜是香港本地人吧，所以比较习惯用英语表达，我是属于对方跟我说英语我就说英语哈，还请谅解~

如果找比较高端的。。。HR也未必就是香港人。。。
我投行和咨询公司的一些朋友，招她们进来的人，挺多是中资背景的早期港飘以及外国人。。
当然了，我其实是支持去中大的，只是觉得城大的金融学也挺好，中大好不代表城大商学院就不堪。
认识的几个城大金融学毕业的，也有2个在香港四大的咨询的，至少就起点而言，凑合。

我在香港读书的时候也经常遇到这种情况，坚持说中文就好了，到了最后大家也就都说中文了。。
一群中国人说英文，反正我觉得挺装逼的，课堂讨论和工作需要或者练习英语等除外了。。
当然了，分清场合也很重要T T
猜想我们可能在中大金融面试的时候擦肩而过过，总之祝你好运啦
还是多看一些财经类的时事新闻及评论
少泡一些论坛吧（论坛大部份情况下是属于我这样的老年人还有一些没有什么面试的小伙伴泡的。。。）

如果找比较高端的.....這個分別其實更明顯.
隨便找一家外資公司看看他們在會在哪家學校搞宣講, 看看Ibank看哪家大學是target school......
反而是一些較細的公司會沒那麼大的分別...因為他們招人時往往不夠大公司爭而要settle for less.

也別以為外國人就不知道這個分別. 簡單一點, 在外國讀過大學的, 看看exchange school list就明白的了.
而如果是HR的話, 人家靠這個搵食的, 不會不去看一看的.

如果是中資, 或者是有大陸背景的, 分別和HK point of view也不會差太遠. 最大的分別估計是, their view on university in mainland but not those in HK.

P.S. 我也不會說城大金融不好, 而是說不夠好而矣. 當然, 我一直的說法都是, per-experience master讀金融都不夠讀其related major好.........(here for sure include CUHK but not only CityU.....and honestly I will apply this logic to basically university in the world)
i.e. I consider CUHK MSc Economics > CUHK MSc Finance.

Thanks for OP‘s question and your answer about CUHK and CityU, and I agree with you.

A 1-year program focusing on finance cannot be so in-depth while finance companies especially IBs need persons with skills more specialised. Considering the expenditure, the Ms in Econ program seems to be more efficient. In addition, CFA is open to everyone.

And I have a question that how do you view the difference between CUHK Econ and HKUST Econ. Their curriculum looks the same while CUHK focuses on placement and HKUST on academic. P.S. I want to find a job in finance industry in HK after graduation.

similar. no significant difference. they will open similar doors.

but if have both offer on hand,
I will slightly tend to go to HKUST one as they have a slightly more famous business school, and more flexible econ master program.

The only cost maybe.....you have to sleep less. but this is life in HK and thus better get used to this sooner rather than later.

P.S. I will say that the two economics master really looks similar, and I don't see any difference between academics vs placement........

my only suggestion will be, try to get a CFA I passed this summer, and do the level II in the next one.

you will be busy with various career event and job searching during the semester (in additional to course work)

P.S. if you want to adopt to HK better, the best idea is indeed....to learn Cantonese (of course time consuming).
