Ph.D. position in ME at Univ of Wyoming

Motivated graduate school applicants are invited to join Dr. Jian Cai’s research group at the University of Wyoming. The research group has one Ph.D. Research Assistant opening for Fall 2016 on numerical combustion research.
The successful candidates should demonstrate
•        A bachelor or master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics or other related fields;  
•        Knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer;
•        Programming experience;
•        GRE total score (verbal and quantitative) a minimum of 307. TOEFL scores a minimum score of 577 on the written exam or 90 on the Internet-based test (TOEFL iBT).
Although not required, previous experience in the following fields is desirable:
•        Knowledge of turbulent flows, multiphase flows, combustion or numerical methods;
•        Programming experience in C++;
•        Experience with Linux/Unix;
•        Experience with CFD software, preferably OpenFOAM.
Dr. Cai’s research group offers hands-on experience in both experiments and simulations. The multi-physics approach uniquely incorporates the latest research developments in turbulence, chemistry, radiation and multiphase flows. The versatile training prepares one to be a competitive researcher upon the completion of graduate studies.
