The lecture goes against the view mentioned in the reading, aiming to further illustrate why ethanol is a usable fuel which will supersede gasoline.
Firstly, from the perspective of its aftermath on the environment, the professor states his doubt. According to the lecture, the carbon dioxide released by ethanol will actually be offset by the amount plants, from which ethanol extracted, absorbed. So, the effect caused by ethanol is not as much as that of gasoline.
Secondly, judging from the assumed depletion on the food source of domestic animals caused by ethanol, the professor holds a different view. The lecture further demonstrates that the part of plant which served the fuel is different one from that eaten by livestocks. The conflict dose not exists at all.
Thirdly, on the point of the flinching-high price mentioned by the reading, the professor never fails to express his concern. Lecture believes that even if the government subsidies are withdrawn, the price of ethanol will not have a sheer increase. According to a commonsense of economy, it is clear that when the production of ethanol increased, the priced will drop. Thus, even without the support from government, ethanol is still affordable.
In summery, scarcely at all the professor agrees with the views in reading. He believes ethanol can serve as a replacement to gasoline , which denied by the reading.
