The speaker asserts that the function of science is to reassure while the purpose of art is to unset, therein lies the value of each. As far as I am concerned, I think the speaker's claim is one-sided. Both science and art can serve to reassure and to upset, that is to say, they have dual character.

First of all, the final objective of science, in my view, is to discover truths about our world, our universe, and ourselves. Sometimes these discoveries serve to reassure, other times they serve to upset. On the one hand, many scientific discoveries serve to reassure. When people are confused by numerous and complicated facts and phenomenon, it is science that can dispel people' confusion. For example, before 16th century, many people knows that if you throw a pebble in to sky, soon it will plump down, They also observed that there are many stars and the moon in the sky at a fine night.  They maybe gaze the myriad stars and do not know why they blink their eyes and smile to them. Such thing is not so mysterious to us in modern times because, we understand the Law of universal gravitation, which was founded by Newton, one of the greatest scientists in history. When a pebble was thrown into sky, it will be pulled down by the gravity of the earth. Similarly, there is attraction between every two matters possessing mass, which showed in Law of universal gravitation. One planet may goes around a star with the help of universal gravity between them. And the law is also one of the important causes of how the world works and why there many stars in the sky. This example can illustrate that science can reveal the truth and essence of the world, and then make us understand more and more things which confuse us a lot in the past.

On the other hand, many scientific discoveries have clearly "upset" conventional notions of people. The purpose of science is to deep our thought, work out the underlying principle in the world and to explain many phenomenons. So there is a long long way to go for science. And with the development of science, many old theory and notions of scientists will be upset while the new one arise to replace them so that our understanding of the cosmos will go further. Here is a case in point, as we know, before 19th century, the classic mechanics had dominate the whole world. Nobody dared to doubt about the credibility of Newton’ laws. But with the development of quantum dynamics, many laws and our original notions is prove to be a mistake. The quantum has change the notions of people and upset the classic mechanics. Some we can say, in many times, some scientific discoveries have clearly "upset" conventional notions of people.

Compared to science, in many cases arts set about to reassure, not to upset. Numerous arts give us sweet feelings aesthetically. Smile of Mona Lisa, masterpieces of Da Vinci, can serve to reassure people a lot. The serene, beautiful woman Mona Lisa, which looks like an amiable mother, gives us safety and comfort. Another case in point is the Destiny symphony of Beethoven. Its imposing rhythm and implicit strength give us confidence, give us hope, and give us the courage to live happily. In a word, it is arts that can serve to comfort people and give people some sweat feelings.

However, in other cases, artists set about to upset. They create new works on the basis of other artist. They can work out many valuable works which are different from their precedents and transcend their precedents and give great impact to people' ideas and spirits. We know, the impressionism, which is famous for its marvelous use of the light, breaks out the principle of paintings that there should be no light in the background of a picture. Though this instance, we can conclude that artists must and often upset other works of their precedents.

In summary, due to aforementioned reasons, we can safely come to the conclusion that both science and arts can serve to upset and reassure, and the value field lies in what society can benefit from it.

1．        首先，devotion，不好意思，我给你提个建议好吗？在你用word查完拼写后，自己用3分钟再通读一遍，好多最基本的时态，语法错误，自己一读就明白了。拜托了。
2．        其次，我还是觉得文章的论述很肤浅，结构也有点不合理。题目中有science vs reassure, art vs upset, 。基本上从题目的话，你就知道这个science 和art 是同等重要的，而你的b1b2,明显比b3,b4, 要长的多（先不说论证的充分如何，只是从长度上的第一印象）。而这道题的难点就是讲art, upset，而你却是略写。明显是辟重就轻。而你的论证我觉得你走入了一个误区。的确，你是按时模考，但我觉得你的论述无论是例子的符合程度，还是对例子的剖析上都很稚嫩。感觉就是baby式作文。可能我说了重了点，但我的确是这么认为的，也只是想让你考个好成绩而已。思维的深度与临考时的速度是一个矛盾。但我觉的如果你平时就不去分析，只是练速度，那么就背离了AW写作的关键――分析，因为，你几乎没有分析，或者说总是感觉很肤浅，特别就是b3,4。

reassure就是肯定人类自身，upset反省人类自身，包括对科学本身的反省。
6.我对艺术并不懂，但是，我觉的，不管是印象派，野兽派，还是surrealism，都应该是试图表达一种对人类自身的认识。而艺术本身，从总体上，而不是仅仅一个school（当然也有价值），加深了人类对自身的关照。我自己的理解是：不要用一个派别来涵盖艺术的价值。
