to explore their own emotions."



The title statement recommends that education should also teach students to explore their own emotions. I fundamentally agree with this suggestion, however, I think when students pay more attention to emotions, the logical reasoning teaching should not be ignored, or even more, should still be strengthened.

Logic is the basis on which nature and human society function, it is what we human beings depend on to survive and thrive. Firstly, the physical world is always working following some natural principles, and the connection and the concepts of the principles are logical, only use logical thinking and reasoning can we understand the principle of the working of nature and utilize them. Suppose when we discuss how to deal with a predicable hurricane or earthquake, when we plan to use sunlight and rivers to produce electricity, and when we study cloning animals and cure some epidemic heavy diseases, we have to use the knowledge and skills we gained, and all these are from the principle of the nature, it is absurd to solve the problems by emotion but not logical thinking. Secondly, the human society is also working under some logical principles' control. Consider the economics, the education and the public management, there are still axioms and principles which are logical, such as the relationship between supply and demand, market equilibrium, the optimization of management and so force. We human beings must master the logical analysis methods and then survive and thrive in the society.

Moreover, at the personal level, if a person wants to make progress and succeed, one of the most important thing is to improve a high-level capacity for reasoning and logical thinking. To succeed, one must know how to plan the future, how to analyze a social question, how to proper regard the surrounding environment, he or she must know to compare different things, extrapolate and draw practical conclusions, and these first involve logical thinking and reasoning.

On the other hand, emotion can not be ignored. We may be happy, exciting, ecstatic, sorrowful, depressed, surprised, and angry and so on, all these we expressed are emotions. Whether the day is meaningful, whether life is bright or dark both partly or even primarily depend on the emotions we mainly have. It is obvious that one person who feels happy and pleased all day would enjoy his or her life, while one who suffers from pressure and depression most of the time may probably hate the life. If education teach students hold a proper attitude toward lives, enjoy the happiness and good luck while forget the depression and bad luck, their lives would be bright and they would certainly be energetic.

However, paying too much attention to one's own emotion without logically consideration would make people become selfish. When one tries to be happy and enjoy pleasure, he or she must realize it is one's obligation to consider others' feeling, use logical reasoning to think about the problems and questions from others' perspectives. Otherwise, one would use some immoral methods to gain his or her own pleasure, which is not permitted.

In conclusion, emphasizing students' capacity for reasoning and logic thinking and exploring their own emotions are both important and have great value for the society and students themselves. Logic is the basis of the working of nature and human society, it is also the basis depending on which human beings and individuals survive and thrive, while emotion greatly influence our conscious of lives and whether we enjoy our lives.
