So much is new and complex today that looking back for an understanding of the past provides little guidance for living in the present. 现代生活是崭新、复杂的，认知过去对现在没有指导价值。

With the rapid change and development nowadays, some says that looking back for an understanding of the past is useless, since today is new and complex. However, I do not agree with this statement. The past is a public wealth, which deserves us to study time and time again.

First of all, learning from the past can guide you today, since certain fundamentals have not change totally. Naturally, the fresh and intricate today is quite different from the old and simple past. Nevertheless, the fundamental things such as excellent character or attitude towards life have not change yet, those will still influence on the young generation. Take my experience for example. When I was just a little boy, my parents asked me  to be honest and get ready to help others just like my grandparents told them. Because honest, that is one of the precious merits of human beings, should be inherited from one generation to another whenever. Without honest, the society absolutely will be fraught with lies and cheats disorderedly. Therefore, from this view, some fundamentals such as excellent character or invaluable human virtues will never useless, oppositely, those will be picked up and inherited forever.

Secondly, people can obtain knowledge, experience and special perspectives from the past and then make creative achievements today. By the process of studying the past, people may absorbed something useful and everlasting, such as experience or insightful thoughts. Take famous American physics -- Einstein for instance. His immortal theories of relativity are based on the study from the past, with the help of  the former scientists and their knowledge which accumulated for centuries. Just like Sir  Isaac Newton said "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants". Almost every scientific accomplishes are derived from the past knowledge and experience. Supposed that, if there is no past, can people easily acquire the former knowledge? Absolutely not. Thereby, to a certain extent, the past is useful to us today.

Finally, looking back to the past can let people reflect their positive and negative influences, make a comprehensive comment, then correct the wrong and maintain the right. Backward in the historical river of human beings within almost 8000 years, there are numerous errors and experience that deserve our attention. With the study of the past, we will reflect our human beings, avoid those unforgiving errors and do our best in the future, otherwise tragedies may take place again. Take protection of environment for example. In the Industrial Revolution, people exploited environment excessively. When they knew the significance, it is too late to resume. While, for those recently developing countries, they have learned  this case in the past and try to avoid it happen again. Thus, the understanding of the past is the key of usage for today.

Admittedly, today is not similar with the past, after all, it is new and complex. However, it is never out-fashioned to study from the past. Since the learning of the past can provide people with everlasting experience and knowledge, give them special view to reflect themselves and then avoid the previous errors. Therefore, by studying of the past, probably, people will live better in the future.

关于第二段的例子，虽然经典，但是值得商榷，主要是太著名了，有的书上说最好不要用举世闻名的例子，不过我自己也把握不准，因为心里的东西不多啊，每次写文章，尤其跟科技有关的就想到爱gg和牛gg
我在想是不是可以找点身边的例子，不过有点难
