The best way to learn a new subject or skill is to study small segments or details in great depth rather than to start by trying to develop a sense of the whole.

some people has it that: “ the best way to learn is ignore a sense of the whole. As far as the whole process of learning are concerned. The statement is unfounded for it contradicts normal experience.  study of small segments and details only, put the whole process from the beginning to the end at risk.

In the beginning of study, putting attention to a sense of a whole help people to determine which segments need to be study further. When first connect one new subject or skill. It is always hard and pains taking to see how many small segments. Even recognize many small segments or details consisted in a large part, again it is very difficult to determine which part is more important thus need to study further. Only to hold the sense of a whole could benefit the first determination. After see the whole, compared several small components within large body, people notice the difference and importance of each part. On the contrary, ignorance of large part is like do scientific research without proposal. Without certain guide people easily become lost in massy information and those details mask the true importance of each part.

In the process of study, hold a sense of a whole prevents people distracting from right path. Take environment scientific research for example. Some biological experts consisted of the whole project called test the influence  to sea. Their duty of examination the influence of CO2 to open see is part of the whole projects. What their work target could not distract from influence on see , if they ignore the duty of whole project, exam the influence to river , for example is out of target. They also have to make sure that they do not take the burden other scientist have taken, within a research group every scientist has one or two fixed small projects. Regardless of other scientist's work , it is easy to contradict to other research and double the research thus waste of time and energy. even worse maybe some other group of people have already do certain research and even publish some papers pointed the same projects. Thus if scientist only delve oneself into own segments or details but ignore the whole projects both within the group or outside will encounter failure.

Finally, getting a glance of the entire structure will help the learner recognize the relationship with other subjects, thus facilitate the learning process.  Other subjects no matter how far from certain ongoing projects, set more or less light to the other subjects. And one single segment can not survive without connection with other parts. Thus proper connecting with other subjects is highly in demand. A glance of the entire structure help people pay attention more than single segments, noticing other relevant segments. Actually nowadays, lots of cross-subjects have emerged. For example, The marriage of chemistry and biology, bring out the birth of .biological chemistry, that is do research both in two areas . no single knowledge is sufficient and both are needed. Less attention paid on either segments is unfair, for the entire picture containing two part is more important.

Admittedly, It is detrimental to deny the necessary of study small segments, since edifice made up of lots of bricks. With the increasing development of science and technology and advancement of civilization, subjects are increasingly specialized and more and more efforts require people to spend lots of time to study in depth. In this sense, proper depth of segments is also in demand, so as to survive society and benefit the whole containing several small segments. Therefore it is normal and natural for learners always arranges lots of time in studying major subjects in terms of the increasing complexity of academic materials and education’s goal.

to sum up, during the whole process of learning, in order to get enough information, found proper determination and not to lose the whole picture, studying small segments or details is insufficient. A glance of the whole benefit the process from beginning to the end. In the final analysis, the best way of study is make great efforts to delve in certain segment in deep depth as well as hold the entire picture to guide the studying road.
