I strongly agree with the speaker's assertion that what requires real effort and courage is to make things as simple as possible. Simple things can not only save people's time but also free people's mind and make our society more efficiency.

What we really need is simple and clear things, especially when scientific problems are concerned. It is common sense that no one will like complex things and searching for quick and simple solution for one's task is what we desire. When I was in middle school, my math teacher always praised the students who could find the answer to a math question in few steps, while not the one who use a lot of theorem or formula and then get the same answer. She told us that( I paraphrase): ‘all of you need to find the best way for your question. The best way is the simplest way, for it can save your time and reduce your mistake.’ This attitude toward our work should be remembered in many realms, not only to students. As a scientist , manager , teacher, or people of other social status must keep in mind that one should do one’s endeavor to finish the work in a simple way. Admittedly, this will not easy for everyone, just like only few students can find simple solutions for their question. So it need real effort and courage to make things simpler. Consider the good and correct result, the endeavor will be a worthy investment.

Moreover, in modern society, making things simple are also the truth in economic realm. if a company wants its production can sell well, the most important thing is that it must make sure the manufactures can serve consumers well.  A good and welcomed production, however, not only needs to be of high quality, but also easy to be used.  Recently, I have read a report in the local newspaper, which is a discussion about video. According to the discussion, I can only draw one conclusion that the most popular one is the simplest one. It seems that consumers are more concern about whether they can use the video as quickly and perfectly as possible and they don't like the one, which has many buttons and complex structure, and difficult for using, even it has more function and a low price. So, bigger and complex things are not required, companies should make effort to make their products simple if they want to be successful. It also reflect the trend that in our society the need of briefness. Similarly, to make a production both multifunctional and simple to master also need effort and encouragement of technique workers.

Nowadays, the complexity of government and other organization have been a serious problem of our society. The government of many cities, have too many department, while, in reality, some of them need combination. Such big organization not only wastes money but also make people lazy and less efficiency. So many socialists have promoted this phenomenon and indicate that a large and complex government will hinder the development of a society. See, complex things have bring us side effects and it also need the whole society’s efforts to find a suitable settlement.

In sum, I insist people should try their best to make things as simple as possible, and only in this way can we see our society's prosperity.

我觉得楼主还需要再下功夫，无论是语言上还是内容上。

首先明确这么一个issue的出发点，你写的文章为了是通过自己的观点去说服别人。为了这个目的，你的文章中一定要出现别人的观点，即使你反对它。通过让步，甚至是深层次的让步在去驳斥，会显得更有说服力。

就这个题目本身来讲，单纯的简单和复杂都不是社会需要的。有些东西简单不了，火箭上天少一个螺丝也不行，不是每个人都玩得转的；另外你也提到了政府机关精简机构的必要性，这是一个很好的切入点，要比讨论数学问题好得多，因为数学本身就是一个很难讲清楚的话题，严密的论证是必须的啊。

感觉第二段政府机构的臃肿怎么复杂，怎么不好还可以深入，不要仅仅停留在多，不妨举例说明复杂的多余和不方便，这样不就反过来加强论点——把复杂变简单如何重要了吗？！

btw:有时候复杂的程序是必须的，但我们可以分解成一个个简单的部分。来一段谈简单复杂的转化或者谈过份简单的危险，不是更logical and critical 吗？
