In my observation, the speaker unfairly generalize the current situation of the world. although I concede for long time in history, the big cities of one country indeed were responsible for the development of the cultural tradition. However, the duty of these cities seem to be lost at the advent of globalization. For many major cities,people are walking in the narrow way toward the Western Culture far away from bearing the cultural tradition. In order to make one culture's culture thrive, in my opinion, the pressing problem is to wake up their confidence and concerning about their own cultures, and provide financial support to secondary cities, which really burden the prosperity of their cultural tradition.

I concede that for long time that the major cites were responsible for the cultural tradition. the chief reason is that the business, crafts and arts, and education were always strive in these cities. they are the samples that other cities in the country should follow. For example, the Western culture may born from the Athena in Greek, where a myriad of great philosophers, physicists, and mathematicians worked here. even now we also benefit from the works.another telling example may involve the culture of far-east.the initiation and development of east Asia culture should be ascribed to major cities in China and India to large extent. until now the relic of culture of the tow counties,especially the one of China in the far-east can inspected clearly.

In this age of information changing fast, on the one hand, the major cities of one country always sever as a tache through which people can establish relationship between their cultures and the rest of the world; on the other hand, viewing from the perspective of the foreigners, the major cities in a certain country serve as a window through which they can inspect into and understand the culture. Unfortunately, at the advent of globalization, there is no balance that each culture contribute to the diversity of the total human society. but there is a slippery slope to the Western culture. Most of major cities tend to appear the same while their unique merits and styles are disappearing and are superseded by the Western Culture. For example, In Shanghai, the biggest cities in China, many old buildings with special styles are removed for the pragmatic needs such as new park place, new business building in order for the development of economy. what's worse, young people in all likelihood are likely to celebrate the exotic festivals such as "valentine's day" while neglecting the naive "valentine's day" wholly. In my observation, the same happen in Tokyo

As the major cities of a counties, they always does not suffer from the financial support but the brunt from other cultures. what a country should do in order to preserve and generate the cultural tradition is not simple providing financial support. the first job or maybe also the prerequisite is to revise their culture, rebuilding the confidence and love about the culture and the cohesion among citizens.

As the wind of globalization sweep its barriers in most of major cities. the inland,small cities seem to be the places where preserve the cultural tradition well. since they are less impacted by the mitigated impact of the globalization. Although they are facing the scarcity of money to preserve the tradition,they are doing their best to perceive their culture heritage which they inhered from the predecessors and should be passed to the youngsters. For examples, In China, Most traditional arts such as paper-cut, merits such as dragon-playing and dragon-boating competition are preserved in villages rather than in cities. However, the lack of financial support seriously restricts the development of the indigenous culture. Thus, the Government should pay more attention to the survival and preservation of cultural tradition in small cities and rural areas, and provide financial support.

To sum up, the government shouldn't only steer at the major cities, which once indeed carried the responsibility for generating and preserving their cultural tradition. The most pressing task for most non-western countries should do in order for making the naive cultural tradition thrive is to arouse the love of the naive culture and provide necessary financial support for the small cities and other areas where the cultural tradition primarily exists.
