153"Students should bring a certain skepticism to whatever they study. They should question what they are taught instead of accepting it passively."
I tend to agree with the speaker that students should bring a certain amountof suspicion? to whatever they study instead of accepting it passively. An absolute passive absorption of what they have been introduced will both impede their true understanding of the knowledge and impair their ability to think critically and independently, and thus will do no good to the mental development of a student. However, an overdue skepticism of all the knowledge, especially when it comes to moral standards, is inappropriate and will be harmful to the establishment of students' personal value system.
Fist of all, a certain amount of skepticism is both indispensable and beneficial in the learning process. If a student just nods whatever is taught by teachers or books, tries to memorize all the knowledge and facts he studies, imitates the "correct" methods to solve problems, and always follow the instructions of tutors with no objection, then how can hehe/she virtually understands the knowledge anything elseanything else? he studies? By means of such rote study without a positive participation in the learning process, neither academic averageacademic average? nor philosophies of lifephilosophies of life? could ever be obtained. As we know, true learning is an enterprise of questioning and experimenting the known knowledge, as well as exploring and discovering the unknown facts, which require students to find out the doubtful point in what they study, then either think it separately and critically or debate with others, and finally reach a reasonable consensusconsensus may not be always true. What really matters is not who is right, but what is right. Only through skeptism and intensive study of what has been taught, can a student fully understand the intrinsic traits of a theory or principle. For example, if a physics school student just accept Newton's Three Laws of Mechanics without any doubt about its correctness and applicable situations, it will be difficult for him to enter the realm of quantum mechanics, in which Newton's laws are upset. In the same spirit, if a law school students just takes all the existent laws as granted and never asks why they are indispensable to the law system or whether they are indisputably just, then he cannot understand the true essence of laws. In short, a certain skeptism in study will help students to fully understand the world and enhance their ability of critical thinking上文有证明critical thinking吗?.
However, the pivotal point in this issue is the word "certain", which we should take it as "moderate". The personal value system of a student has not been fully developed yet, especially for a primary school student to whom the world is simple and even a blank page对孩子而言,世界是一张白纸? Thus they should accept the facts, ideas and concepts first, and until they have accumulated a certain amount of knowledge and the ability of judgment, they are free to suspect and question whatever they think to be questionable关于until的用法。后半句应该为they are not free to-----. After all, most existent knowledge have gone through the long process of review and are proved in practice and application, which makes them trustworthy. The necessity of trust is mostmore? important in the realm of morality. If students doubt the correctness of the acknowledged moral standards instilled into them, and take action to upset them as well as disobey the legal rules which are designed to sustain such standards, the balance of society will be undermined as a result.example? Therefore, a certain skeptism is necessary, but in certain area and should be lifted to a certain stage. As it comes to the study of science,----;When concerning to the moral system----两部分呢?
In conclusion, skeptism is an essential part of study process since passive acceptance of whatevereverything, whatever provided is taught will prevent students from understanding thoroughly and thinking critically. However, this spirit可以考虑换个词 should be applied in moderate, otherwise it will be impossible to form one's ideology and knowledge, and even disturb the balance of society我知道你这句对应道德方面,但好像还是有点突然.
