看来今年申请形势非常激烈啊，希望大家耐心看完下面
的内部信息.

Report on this years applicant pool:

increases in size of applicant pool, size of American citizen pool, and
very big increase in sizes of Women (both US and Chinese) applicants.
VERY big increase in number of US applicants from TOP 15 schools.

Applicants (as of deadline feb 1-more will come in)= 111

US applicants= 42

Chinese/Korean/Taiwanese applicants= 45

European= 2

FEMALE APPLICANTS: 40
(This is a huge number)

US FEMALE APPLICANTS= 16
OTHER FEMALE= 24

AFRICAN AMERICAN 3
HISPANIC 2
MULTIRACIAL AND OTHER 2

We have US applicants from: Princeton, Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Penn,
Columbia, Berkeley, Swarthmore, Amherst, Pomona, Harvey Mudd, Bryn
Mawr,
UT, Renselear, Notre Dame

We also have increases in the number of applicants from University of
Science and Technology of China and Beijing University in China, which
are among
the best schools, as i understand.

这是我们系内部发的信件，看来申请人数非常多阿，因为我们整个系也不过20多个学
生，最多这一届会招7个人，不知道花落谁家啊.......

usually the Chinese students from these two will get offer
but will they go to Rice after they have its offer ?
I doubt ..........
