46"While some leaders in government, sports, industry, and other areas attribute their success to a well-developed sense of competition, a society can better prepare its young people for leadership by instilling in them a sense of cooperation."
尽管一些政府领导,比如体育、工业和其他的领域的人把他们的成功归功于良好的竞争机制和竞争意识,一个社会还是应该给年轻人灌输合作的思想
Confronted with this topic, whether a society should instill the young people a sense of competition or cooperation is not a straightforward issue. Were I left to offer my opinion, I would not hesitate a moment to say that I totally agree with the speaker's statement that for young people the sense of cooperation is very indispensable to the society, and only cooperating the sense of competition together with the sense of cooperation would bring more benefits to the society. There are many examples that can support my viewpoint.
In the first place, the reason why I hold such view is that the infusing of a sense of cooperation can not only bring the society a more stable condition but also can cultivate the honor of our nation into the mind of the young people and uplift the cohesion. Consider, for example, in the politic realm, only if the leaders, from all the countries or provinces, or at least from the superior to underling, cooperate together that can make the construction of our countries more beautifully and effectively. Another example I would like to bring forward is that in the industry realm, the executive officer should collaborate with his underlings sincerely by instilling his underlings the team spirit of the company, making them consider the company as their own, thus can make the maxim profit to the company. Therefore, the sense of cooperation is very important to all the people living in the society, especially to the young people.
Moreover, the disadvantage of not instilling the young people a sense of cooperation is very prominent in two aspects: the fist one is that it can destroy the stability of the society and the second one is under this circumstance it will produce pressure to the young people and thus make people lose the virtue of solidarity. Consider, for example, in the sport realm, the team games, such as the NBA or the volleyball match, needs all his members realize the importance of solidarity. Provided that all the team members, just holding the ball and not passing the ball to his companies, mean to account for the score by themselves, the match will run into chaos and we will not appreciate so many highlights. For all the team members, they should be interactional and interdependent. Therefore, what a team cannot lose, just as what a society cannot lose, is the sense of cooperation.
Admittedly, the importance of the competition cannot be replaced by the cooperation, however, what we need is the reciprocity between the competition and cooperation. Consider, for example, in the sport realm, especially in some individual games, the sense of competition plays more important role. What they want to get is the gratified result, by which they can enjoy the happiness of the victory. Therefore, we should combine the competition and the cooperation well to make the best use of each other.
From what has been discussed above, It is not difficult to say that inculcating the sense of cooperation into the young people is of importance and I confirmedly hold my viewpoint that none but combining the competition and the cooperation together can make the best use of each other. |
