The line graph demonstrates the changes about how much European consumed fish, chicken, beef and lamb from 1979 to 2004. It can be obviously seen that chicken became the most popular meat in this European country.

Started in 1979, beef was the most consumed meat of all kinds, which reached to about 220 grams per person per week. The lamb and the chicken followed as the second and third with around 150 grams. Fish was the least, only consumed slight over 50 grams.

Since then, chicken had experienced steady growth while beef, though peaked at nearly 240 grams in 1982, has dropped to 200 grams in 1989, which was the same as chicken. The consumption of chicken arrived at 250 grams in 2004 ranking the first and the beef reduced to about 100 grams in the end. The lamb also encountered consistent fall and stayed at 60 grams. There was not much gap for fish, accounting for about 40 grams in 2004.

In sum, chicken surpassed beef in 1989 and became the most consumed meat in 2004.
