------题目------
Students should bring a certain skepticism to whatever they study. They should question what they are taught instead of accepting it passively.
------正文------
Contemporary society is characterized for the rapid changing, in some sense. We live in a world which is radically different from the past, society is changing, person is changing, weather is changing, everything is changing, so the knowledge has no reason to refuse changing. In the process of study, we should bring a skeptical attitude to the knowledge.
Keeping a skeptical attitude to study will motivate you to master the knowledge you learn firmly. In the process of study, one should have the initiative, whether to the courses or books. When meeting a thing, you should not always accept the saying of books or authorities, you should ask, where it comes from, why it breaks out, how it develops and what it would become into, then you may find out the facts through reading books or doing investigations. By this way, you would know more information about the thing you meet, see it from more and various perspectives, understand it better under particular conditions, finally reach the aim that to master the knowledge well.
Furthermore, the skepticism plays an important role in the scientific academic research. As we all know, accepting everything without doubt can not be called "research", while which is meant that finding and discovering new facts or disciplines through experienments or investigations. As everything in the world keeps changing all the time, knowledge is also changing since the beginning. Thus there is no possibility that any knowledge could be permenant, so we should have a skepticism to whatever we research. Also the point is illustrated by facts that skepticism leads to many new theories and new inventions time and time again. Copenicus is a suitable case in point. In his period, people all believed that earth is the center of the universe, which is supported by the church and the authority. But Copenicus, with a skeptical attitude to the "fact", wanted to prove it, through investigations and observations, he finally found that the sun rather than the earth is the center of the universe, then pushed over the misleading claim. From the example, you can see how significant role the skepticism plays.
In conclusion, skepticism is a good character for us to study, to research and to do everything. However, returning to the topic of study, only skepticism is not enough, we should further make effort to see it more clearly, and to find a proper conclusion at last. |
