One postdoctoral fellow (pdf) position is available at the university of alberta, canada. The pdf is expected to work with Prof. xinming li and Prof. qipei mei and to lead the projects on the development of computer vision and deep learning techniques to improve construction safety and productivity.

Qualifications of the applicant:
• The applicant must hold or are expected to obtain a phd by the time of hiring in a relevant discipline (e.g., civil engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, etc.).
• The applicant should be highly motivated, well organized and passionate about research with good communication skills in english and competent publication records.
• The applicant should have a strong desire to conduct transformational research in close collaboration with the industry.
• Previous research experience in deep learning, computer vision and/or ergonomic analysis as well as motion study is preferred.
responsibilities and training:
• Develop computer vision algorithms and data analysis techniques to detect unsafe human behaviour and unsafe conditions in the construction work environment.
• Deliver clear and concise written and oral presentations of data analysis, and internal/external reports.  prepare manuscripts for publications and present their work at national/international conferences.
• Mentoring junior students in both technical and safety matters.
duration & salary:
• This full-time pdf position has an initial 1-year appointment (as per uofa policy for pdfs), with the potential for annual renewal/promotion for up to 3 years.
• Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
• The appointment is expected to begin immediately or no later than September 1st, 2022.  review of applications will start immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
