Recently, many people pay attention to a controversial problem that meaningful and thoughtful communication is prevented by high-speed electronic communications media, such as electronic mail and television. Different people would give different answers to it due to their different experience[experiences]. As for me, I am inclined to refute the statement in the title with some reasons.

First of all, high-speed electronic communications media, such as electronic and television, are only alternatives to sent or receive information, so they can hardly decide whether one communicate with [others] meaningful and thoughtful [改为副词？ Meaningfully and thoughtfully] or not. These new tools do not substitute the old communication modes, but they provide some new accesses to communication. As additional approaches to communicate, they never hamper meaningful and thoughtful communication, because one can choose other ways rather than high-speed electronic communications media, if he considers them as an impediment in meaningful and thoughtful communication. My brother is reluctant to use the new ways for communication between he and his girlfriend, since he thinks that it is boring to communicate through electronic mail, so I tell him that the traditional modes, as letter, telegraph, telephone, etc. may be used, but he feels boring still with traditional modes. This example tells us that communication without meaningful and thoughtful is brought on by oneself rather whatever he/she uses.[这一句读起来感觉怪怪的。嘿]

Furthermore, what high-speed electronic communications media provide magnify the scopes in which people may get information so quickly and exactly as to help their meaningful and thoughtful consideration. About three months ago, a severe earthquake happened near Indonesia, which can be transpired by people through live report from television only a few minutes after earthquake occurrence, and basing on the situation being shown on television screen, many experts found that a ground sea would take place right now according to their experiences, which is transmitted to some people who were lingering on the Indonesian beach still through satellite mobile telephone within only one or two seconds. A great number of people escaped from the disaster because of receiving the message in time. What high-speed electronic communications media provide is so meaningful and thoughtful that many lives are saved, isn't it?[这一段论述的不错！]

In addition, vision-phone has been invented, which provides convenience to face-to-face conversation. The reason why modern ways are considered as a boring thing is that some people cannot watch each other real time in communication. Without face-to-face communication, people lose some tools, such as expression and gesture, in order to communicate more meaningfully and thoughtfully, but now, it has been well improved by high technology, because vision-phone can provide live pictures of counterpart when persons communicate with each other. Consequently, supported by development of new technologies, high-speed electronic communications media will make communication more effectively and efficiently than any time before.

Admittedly, as new technologies, high-speed electronic communications media are hard to be accepted and mastered by old men. Objectively, the loneliness is apt to exist among old people, contradictorily, who are ignorant[or reluctant]  to study new ways, so nothing with meaning and thoughtful can be gotten by old people through high-speed electronic communications media. Designers should take this problem into account, and exploit new ways satisfied with old people.

In sum, it is possible that people will never be able to achieve the same conclusion on this complex problem. However, form[from] what has been discussed above, there is little doubt that more and more people would realize that it is inequity to say that high-speed electronic communications media, such as electronic mail and television, tend to prevent meaningful and thoughtful communication
