Do we pay too much attention to the role models, and should we emphasis the significance of the learning to think and action independently instead of copying others? As far as I am concerned, I agree with the speaker to the statement that we should foster the ability of think and act independently for people, which is conduce for them to make their best choice. However I admit that placing too much on the role modes will bring the rigid minds for us. I strongly argue that copying others play an essential role in our learning.

In the first place, I admit that copying role models is a necessary way for us in learning and growth. It is a process of imitating his/her parents that a baby learns to speak, smile, walk, and run. In the primary school, we read after teachers, to copy his accents to recite articles or poems. In secondary school, we follow teachers to find out how to solve a mathematics problem. As the same way, in university, we take the identical measure as our professor to do some researches. Without copying others we could not attain the basic knowledge easily, could not master skills familiarly. It is the inborn nature that human imitates others, only through which human survive and thrive. Moreover, copying others serve as the most brief way to learn. The past experience tells us the success and failure, which point out the correct and erotic measure. We can avoid to repeating the past mistakes, and avoid waste time and energy, directly use the ready-made method to achieve our goals.

Nevertheless, people should avoid the rigidity accompanying with role moles, which is the result of abusing copying others. It is very essential for us to make clearly that what is important when we copy others. Role models are set example for us to follow. We should not learn the methods the models display for us without critical thinking. For example, everyone knows that Newton sat under the apple tree, and a fallen apple which hit his head, cause him reason the principle of universal gravitation. If we copy him mechanically, sitting under the apple tree for waiting a fallen apple to hit our heads, and then dream creating some famous discovery, how absurd it is. The case illustrates that Newton's story about the fallen apple, is not require us to copy his activities, but to copy his curiosity and spirits of doubting, and require us to think more about some trivial things behind which there may exist some valuable things. Therefore, if we only copy the models frigidity, we may fetter our minds and lose the flexible thinking.

Further, I strongly agree the speaker's statement that people should learn to think and act independently to make their best choice. In the high-tech society, we do not need the people with obsolete minds and without the ability of creating and imagining. The critical thinking serves as an essential character for us, especially for leaders in the business and science research. If a business leader without the creative thinking, he will fall behind his competitor, will not make some original measures to appeal his consumers, and will lose the continually changed markets. A leader in a scientific field could not gain advance of his research, if he always repeat what other have done. The new creation and discovery depends on the trying of new method, which stem from the independently thinking and acting.   

To sum up, all the evidences discussed above support my conclusion that, a person who desires the success, can not alienate the imitating others in his primary state. Nevertheless, after equipping with the basic knowledge and skills, a competent personal is required to possess the capabilities of thinking and acting independently.
