------题目------
A new study collected data that shows that people who snore are more likely to gain weight than are people who do not snore. It is well known that many people who snore also stop breathing frequently during the night for a few seconds, a condition called sleep apnea. The interruption of breathing wakes the person—often so briefly that the waking goes unnoticed—and can leave the person too tired during the day to exercise. Anyone who snores, therefore, should try to eat less than the average person and to exercise more.
------正文------
In this argument, the arguer recommends that anyone who snores should try to eat less than the average person and to exercise more. To substantiate the conclusion, the arguer cites some relevant evidences, however, the conclusion is unconvincing for several critical fallacies after deeply consideration. My reasons are as follows:开头很简单明了
To begin with, the conclusion is unreasonably based on the premise that anyone who snores will (eat more)这个好象没有说哦 than others and gain weight than are people who do not snore. No evidence shows that people who snore would eat more than others and it is just a groundless conjecture by the arguer. It is entirely possible that snoring have no relation with eating. Provided that people who snore eat more than others, it does not automatically lead to support that eating more would gain weight, for example, eating more vegetable and fish will be beneficial to health instead of gaining weight.我觉得第一段没有切入要点。其实很容易攻击的一点是STUDY。我觉得在ARGU中应该对这个形成条件反射
Moreover, the arguer fails to found the connection between the interruption of breathing and person's tiresome. In the first place, the evidence is too vague to informative, how is the connection founded? Since the waking goes unnoticed, we can not rule out the possibility that it might not impair the quality of people's sleeping. In the second place, provided that the interruption would influence the quality of sleeping, it is not proper to say that people who snore would not exercise. We can imagine, if people get into the habit of exercises, they would not give up their habits easily even if they feel tired.这个……? Otherwise, if the fatigue degree is slight, it may not affect people’s exercise.
Last but not the least, the arguer commits a hasty generalization that people who snores should try to eat less than the average person and to exercise more. How does the word 'average' come from? It lacks of scientific support. Provided that people who snore should make a change, the arguer fails to notice the range of person including children, younger, adult. Everyone in different age has different acquirement. We should not treat as the same.还可以提建议说应该建议去医院看下。少吃毕竟不能治本啊,而且一个人每天的食量总得有个底线了。(一概而论这样说对吗)
To sum up, the argument is well presented but not well reasoned and the evidences cited could not strongly support the conclusion. To make it logical, the arguer should supply some more evidences on whether snoring has relation with people’ diet and quality of sleeping.
全篇思路清晰,虽然说是限时,但是如果能再展开点就要更好些了。 |
