In the modern society, represented by the rapid development of science and technology, the preservation of culture has become more and more complex and controversial. Does the government must ensure that their major cities receive financial support they need in order to thrive, because it is primarily in cities that a nation's cultural traditions are preserved and generated? Different people hold different due to their perspective angles. Insofar as I can think, I tend to agree the speaker that it is really the responsibility of government to preserve the culture in big cities, although the culture in small cities and countryside cannot be overlooked.
To begin with, the major cities are always the original of the human beings, which have the longest culture history, and these great cultures usually can works as the representation of a country. We need look no further to see the examples. The summer palace in China, Beijing, attracts millions of tourists every year for its majesty; people admire the glory of the Effier Tower in France, Paris, which is the greatest architecture in the world; the wonderful paintings and sculptures are also the reason why Italy is so popular a country which arrest a myriad of persons' eyes.
We cannot image if all these great relics are destroys because of careless conversation, then what a treasure we human beings would lose. Thus, the government must take the responsibility to protect these culture treasure, not only for these ones themselves, but also for the reputation of the country.
However, with the development of the globalization, the culture in big countries ais negatively influenced more or less. These metropolis are usually severs as the windows open to the whole world. International economic cooperation, political negotiations, culture communications firstly take place in these big cities. So the people there have more opportunities to contact the popular culture, and many foreign minds. For example, we now are familiar with the Rock-and-Roll, which is the American musical pattern, otherwise, less and less people are interested folk songs; The oiling painting is also a art form of western countries, which now is more popular in China than the Chinese traditional painting--Wash. What a pity if so many traditional culture disappears because of the import of other foreign civilizations. Therefore, not only the government, but also the whole society must put enough emphasis on this severe affair.
Admittedly, some small countries and countryside are also the places where many traditional culture are conserved. Take China for example, the cutting art, which may even lost in big cities, only come down from one generation to another in countryside, or maybe even in some certain families. These places are not influenced by foreign culture so much as big cities; thus, this traditional culture has more opportunity to keep alive. Whereas, this culture cannot be used as a tool to earn enough money to support the people who are experts in these areas, therefore, the fund to these places is also a important responsibility of government.
To sum up, the government must ensure that the culture in big cities is well preserved. They are not only the treasure, which our forebears left to us, but also the symbol of the country. Meanwhile, the culture in small countries and countryside should also draws the attention of the government, although they may not so splendid as those in major counties.
